Great price, very clean room, friendly staff, close to shops and queen street. Would stay again. Couple of niggles, the spare pillow was covered in mold spots and the old asbestos ceiling was a bit of a worry. Will take ear plugs next time, the continual clunk of doors till at least 1pm was a bit annoying. Had to wake up at 6am so only got a few hours sleep. Some rubber noise dampening strips on doors and cupboards may help. .

We have cyclical maintenance of pillow and linen and it has been addressed with Housekeeping and I'm sure will never happen again. YMCA Hostel is located in the heart of Auckland the busiest city in New Zealand, therefore, outside noise becomes really difficult to control, additionally we have security guards onsite who can help you about pretty much everything. I enjoyed my stay in your clean and comfortable accommodation with helpful staff. I did not use the kitchens which looked quite simple because the town centre with foodcourts and restaurants is a short walk away. .

Single room is small, as you'd expect, but clean and comfortable. The bed was comfy. Service was extremely good and wireless internet very good value. I would definitely stay there again.

I stayed there for one night, and the half of the floor was in building... At 8 in the morning the noise started, very loud noises from the builders. I f I would know this before, I wouldnt stay there. I had to get up at 8 no way to sleep longer with this building noise next rooms...... What a shame

We apologise the incovenient caused, however, builders had instruction to start after 9 and be as quiet as possible, I'm surprised to hear that from you, as we had no problems so far, good thing they will finish this Friday(02nd of December 2011) Thank you for your honesty I will investigate it further, however, the rooms are looking wonderful, we have refurbished the whole floor, with new beds, desks, mattresses, chairs, carpet, curtains and showers. Had a great stay in a central location with easy access to the sights and night life in Auckland.The hostel is well managed with helpful desk staff and really cheerful breakfast cook. The rooms and communal areas were cleaned to a very high standard. I can thouroughly recommend it.
