A dramatic restoration and build project has changed the aspect of this historic building in the heart of central Auckland. Erected in 1912 (formerly Trades Hall Hobson Street), the building has been extended and transformed into a captivating boutique Hotel.
With 138 spaciously designed guest rooms and suites, Auckland City Hotel - Hobson St is the first choice for many leisure and business travellers visiting Auckland. Wouldn't stay there again not a very nice area especially with the police station across the road and the homeless mission center. It was supposed to be non smoking but people above our room were smoking out their window. Not to mention you could here every word from the upstairs rooms. Dear Mr Wallace, We are sorry that your stay was not to your expectations. Our guests have never had any negative experiences from the police station. We have been working with the Auckland City Mission to improve the environment along Hobson Street for the last few years. We are fully supportive of their vision which is to offer help to the under-privileged, but we also understand the public image their services might create for Hobson Street, so we work alongside them to explore possible solutions. They had a project which was to fully contain their services in a new building block, but unfortunately this had been put on hold due to funding issues. Really enjoyed the stay. Was concerned slightly about the parking but the hotel staff sorted it. Would definitely stay here again. Service, the room and restaurant were lovely and well worth it. A+.

This is a great place to stay whilst in the city, for value, friendly welcomes, cleanliness and a great value restaurant with great food and lots of it! it's within walking distance of the shops, theatres and quay. Stayed there twice in may and booked again for july, this place is hard to beat for value for money. .

Went to Jersey Boys at the Civic and stayed at Auckland City Hotel - easy walking distance to venue. Rooms were clean, comfortable, quiet and dark (important for non-sleepers!). Staff were friendly, extremely helpful and made you feel welcome. Parking space was $25.00 but welcome in busy Auckland to have somewhere to park up without having to worry about it. Knew hotel took $50 bond from reading other reviews but wasn't a problem. Car park $25.00 was debited and $50.00 was credited back the following day. Could be a problem if you didn't have a credit card or $100 cash on you I suppose though! Compared to some hotels I thought the room pricing was very reasonable.

Bed Clean shower dirty grime round door frame been there a long time I will not stay there again as many other options much better. Location was great but facilities could have been much better Staff however very pleasant and helpful.
