Located 500m to Ellerslie/Penrose motorway off-ramp, 7km to Auckland CBD and 16 kms from Auckland Airport Best Western Ellerslie International is a Qualmark 4 star motel that offers a range of accommodation options, from standard studio, through to our newly opened Premium Suites, completed in August 2012.

We stayed in a standard studio(room3), one slept in the main bedroom, and i stayed in a small guest room with no window. They all look clean and tidy, but around 4am, i woke up and found out i've been bitten - 10 around my left arm - linear shape, 4 at my back, 3 on my left shoulder. The hotel manager said they have never had bed bugs, flea or anything like that and their beds are clean…i would like to think it is true, but i can’t explain why i had those bites! the manager said i must have got it from elsewhere, but why it bite me only in the morning while i was sleeping in their bed? especially, i spent my daytime on shopping &eating out in the restaurants, and i had shower and slept with clean evening pyjamas. The manager also warmed me that if i put my review here, she would take legal action. I have the right to tell the fact, believe it or not. I was suffering in the past few days, they itch and now turned into blisters.

We conducted a thorough inspection of the unit upon the guests departure and found no evidence of any insects. We run a very advanced eco-tize sanitising programme; being one of very few properties in NZ that operate this system to ensure we maintain a pest-free property. There have been no incidents prior or since this guests stay with us. While we sympathise with her; we are confident that we have always been free of such pests.

Rooms were clean and tidy staff were very welcoming, again there was no spa bath in the room as stated on travelbug so a little disappointed but overall a nice place to stay .

Perhaps the best test of any supplier is how they react to a problem. We - two couples with two rooms booked for two nights - arrived to be told that we had only one room. The other had been cancelled, but not by us. Problem? No, within five minutes we had our two rooms, both upgrades. The hotel is comfortable and well-sited for access to the (limited) attractions of Auckland - especially on a Sunday, when street parking is free very close to the waterfront. The staff are attentive.

Roooms were clean and staff friendly Food and wine were overpriced otherwise good. PS We used a tom-tom to get there as it is a bit tricky from the airport unless you know the locale.
