Fossil Bay Lodge
  • The best budget accommodation by far on Waiheke Island. The feeling is one of almost not being in New Zealand but in some overseas resort. A natural environment of trees, shrubs, flowers, wetland and animals. Laid back out of the milling crowds that can swamp this little island. Yet close to the beaches, shops and wharf. The host of this special gem of a resort is very knowledgeable and kind. 5

  • Highly recommended - We were staying in a very cosy tent, next to the ponds completely isolated from the quiet campsite, complete with beautiful flowering and fruiting gardens, native birds and baby bunnies!- A perfect environment to relax and rejuvenate- also good base away from the crowds - very close to a great beach, coffee, food. Mike the owner is a very nice man and made sure we had everything we needed. 5

  • What a wonderful experience. I was a bit worried about 3 nights spent in the great outdoors but the tents are so comfortable and well furnished you don't miss any of the mod-cons. 5

  • This was such a beautiful place to stay, our tent was gorgeous, had everything we needed and some, bathroom was 2 steps outside the tent, hot water on gas so never ran out, bbq table just by our tent our own private little area with only birds tweeting, a few steps away was the kitchen fully equipped with everything you need, 10 min walk along the beach to town one way and the other way walk to a reserve with a beach & an awesome walking track where you can sit on a seat have the most spectacular views, would definitely go back and recommend it to everyone, absolutely loved it :) 5
