- Superb beach and bush walks
- 10mins to Matakana and Warkworth

Come for 1 night, 2 nights, a week or longer and find something different to do every day. Many of our guests remark how varied and interesting our attractions are, and how more plentiful they are, then more widely known areas in Northland.

Leave or arrive in Auckland airport, and you will find we are the ideal place to spend your first or last few days. Historic Mansion House, the former residence, on Kawau Island, of New Zealand's first Governor General - Governor Grey, has been beautifully restored and is the focus of a great day doing the Mail Run aboard the very comfortable Kawau Kat catamaran, with plenty of time for swims, or walks to the abandoned copper mine or over the island.

Swim with the amazingly abundant fish, just metres from the shore at Goat Island Marine Reserve. Goat Island is New Zealand's world famous first Marine Park, where the fish are so friendly you have to see to believe it. If you don't like to get your feet wet take the Glass Bottom Boat for a full commentry and view of the wonderful marine life, reefs, caves and seabirds in their natural habitat.

  • My partner and I really enjoyed our weekend stay at Snells Beach Motel. The room we stayed in was clean and well insulated, and the owner of the motel was friendly and advised us of what to see and do in the area. I will certainly return to Snells Beach Motel on my next visit up north! 5
