A "Good Old-fashioned Motel" that has managed to survive the onslaught of development at the Mount. Located in one of the most desirable spots right on Pilot Bay Mt. Maunganui, Westhaven Motel offers guests waterfront accommodation at sensible prices.
We offer one and two bedroom units that can sleep from 2 to 8 guests in comfort without adding extra beds. We can cater for families with young children, older folks who appreciate the old days, corporate business travellers or large school groups and sports teams.
Relax and enjoy the passing ships in the bay or jump in and swim the calm Pilot Bay waters. Take part or watch the Triathlons and sports events right outside that are attracted to Pilot Bay.
We offer wireless internet and our warm and friendly hosts will help make your holiday a great one. If you are coming to the Mount for any reason and just need a reasonably priced, warm, comfortable and easy place to stay, then come and see us. We'd love to see you.

Stayed two nights in unit 4. Hospitality was excellent. Friendly family running it who were so helpful and accomodating. The unit comfortably slept our family of six. Not a flash place, was advertised as budget family accomodation (old furnishings, bad repairs in walls, fraying carpet) - but if you aren't picky about appearance it is a great place to take a young family for xmas holiday. Beach 20 metres away. Wifi is free. Very clean and family friendly. Amazing value for money. Very happy with our stay in unit 1 upstairs with gorgeous view of the bay. Beds very comfortable, everything in kitchen clean and functioning, coffee, tea, sugar and milk all supplied. Very friendly staff. Would definitely return.

I can’t believe they have won a prize for hospitality as there was none. When i arrived the office was locked and there was a note taped to the door with my name and unit 4 written on it. I found unit 4, key in door. Unit 4 was not the room i booked. I had to wait for a refund after i’d left of the difference in price. The manager complained to me that travelbug would take a commission. Not my problem! when we entered the room the smell of cleaners was so powerful that it made our eyes water. Left door open to clear the smell. The indoor mat was filthy. The base board at the door broken. The handles fell off kitchen draws. There was tagging on the bathroom door, a badly repaired hole in the wall, paper peeling off walls, a light hanging by its wires and torn carpet. No towels provided. Beds about 40 years old and so uncomfortable. The legs were so lose i had to turn my bed over and screw them in. The mattress/base was torn. Bed making poor with old sheets and pillows like boards. No pillow protectors. Hot water took 3 mins to come through taps. Only a bent coat hanger in the wardrobe. Couch had broken springs so un-useable. The place was a total let down. It needs a total refurbishment. I would not recommend at all!.

We stayed in an upstairs one bedroom unit overlooking pilot bay. Pros: $200 views for $110. Spacious, warm, clean, full-sized stove and fridge. Within walking distance of the ocean beach and cafes and shops. Cons: the motel is in need to refurbishment (peeling paint etc). The towels were clean but some were threadbare, discoloured and frayed. The king-size bed was actually two single beds pushed together and had a single electric blanket placed sideways across it leaving rather a large lump to avoid about 30cm from the edge of the bed. There was no coffee and the dishwashing detergent was 90% water. We were unable to pick up the wi-fi on our ipad but, if we had, it wouldn’t have been free. Fortunately, there are plenty of free wi-fi spots in the town. There is no sky tv available. I've given it the thumbs up because it's good value for the view but we probably wouldn’t stay there again. .
