Spa Lodge Motel is situated in the alpine village of Hanmer Springs.
135 km (1½ hours) north of Christchurch on SH7A and is located just a short stroll from the Thermal Reserve, restaurants and shops.
Spa Lodge Motel comprises 11 spacious, comfortable, sunny units; 2x studio sleep 1-2; 5x1 bedroom sleep 1-5; 4x2 bedroom sleep 1-6. All units are non-smoking, with fully equipped kitchenette, shower, phone, free wifi, Sky TV, heating and electric blankets. Cot/highchair are available on request.
Special features include; guest laundry, undercover parking, outdoor swimming pool(summer only), play area and the peaceful tranquil setting.
Hanmer Springs offers visitors a vast array of experiences and adventures beyond the thermal pool complex. For the adrenaline junky, there is jet boating, river rafting, canyoning, bungy jumping, mountain biking, 4WD quad bike safaris, and in the winter skiing.
For those looking for the quieter experience, Hanmer Springs offers a very pleasant golf course, forest walks, village cruisers, a guided bus tour of Molesworth Station (NZ's largest farming icon). For the fisherman, local rivers boast excellent trout and salmon fishing. But, no matter how you spend your day, at the end of it, a visit at the Thermal Pools is a perfect way to unwind and relax.

A good place to stay - basic but clean and spacious, and very quiet (although we could hear people moving around in the unit above). Free wifi and towels for the pools were great.

A well earned break was only enhanced by our stay here. Friendly helpful hosts and a nice comunity if you wish to mingle with other guests if so inclined, an indication that they were pleased as well. Nicely priced well presented and maintained unit. Perhaps a radio/cd player and covered parking for taller vehicles would be a bonus but not many provide this anyway. All in all a pleasent stay and no need for us to look elsewhere next time we come up. Many thanks nev and pauline. Cheers.

Our first time staying at this motel, great service and unit well laid out. Free wifi and towels for the pools made it just that little better. Only issue we had was also with the tv, very hard to watch where it had been placed and could not be moved at all. Also the fold out mattress on the sofa bed was quite hard - could probably do with replacing, otherwise a lovely stay, thanks.

I liked this place. Built in a a different time, it was great to have two separate bedrooms. The units were spacious and well equipped. Great location too. If i had a gripe it would be the sound proofing in the ceiling isnt very good, the people above us were noticeable by the noise they made and i dont think they were being excessively noisy. Would happily stay here again.

Staff were lovely but was dissapointed to learn that the spa was broken (one of the reasons i picked it) also you could not tilt the tv at all and it was really hard to watch. I gave up in the end.

Reasonable price for a nice quiet motel unit. Very close to restaurants and hot pools. Not the greatest heating (only one small wall heater for the whole unit) but was sufficient for an overnight stay in hanmer. Very helpful and friendly staff as well!.
