  • Very enjoyable stay. Great room with balcony facing mt cook. Very nice meal in the panorama restaurant on first night. It was my wife's birthday the second night and unfortunately the panorama room was booked up with a tour group which was disappointing but was looked after well in the alpine buffet. Gratis bottle of wine and a birthday cake and gift delivered to room which was a nice touch. She was happy which made me happy. One small negative was that the staff start setting up for breakfast in the buffet restaurant before guests are finished. Would stay again. 5

  • It was just perfect. Everything went as per the plan. The room, The service, The food and drinks. Top quality service and very helpful staff. We stayed in one of the premium rooms at level 9. The view was just awesome without any interruption. Just one thing to add that there is not much choice for the vegetarian people. 5

  • We stayed in a chalet, amazes me only window in the living area overlooks the car carpark not the views up to Mt Cook. Next time would stay in the main hotel. Friendly service, excellent restaurants but all very expensive, why prices are incresed over the summer periods in this industry seems incredibly greedy, no other business would get away with it. 5

  • 1. Unhelpful staff at the Hillary centre 2. A la carte restaurant really excellent but the buffet restaurant horrible - smelly, crowded, just not nice 3. Room excellent 4. Too much preference given to tour bus groups 3

  • We stayed in a chalet. The room and furniture are a bit old (due to the remote location?). Great view though. 5

  • On the whole very good and we will return. Did feel the restaurant meal was a little on the small side and a little too fancy which obscured the quality of the ingredients. One spring roll was burned to a crisp and should not have been served. Service in restaurant was perfect though. Also unhappy with service charge on breakfast. I know a lot of places do, but also a lot of equal or better quality and price do not. 3

  • Hello Deborah, Thanks for your comments. I was a little confused at the service charge for breakfast, could you explain to me what you meant by this? Thanks, Andrew Cleverley General Manager ac@hermitage.co.nz

  • Food in sit down dining was disappointing, had to call to have room serviced, staff not too helpful or friendly, Chateau Tongariro was far superior 3
