All the separate, self contained, secluded cottages are situated near the lake and the shops. Nestled in a large garden with mature trees.. a rarity in Lake Tekapo. All have a rural outlook and degree of privacy not obtainable in a hotel or motels. The cottages are self-contained and sleep 2-8 people. Full linen supplied. The Eastwing and Rowan each have a wood burner, firewood and sundecks to relax on. If you are looking for older style high country accommodation, with modern amenities in the Mckenzie High Country, you have come to the right place. Unlimited Free WiFi in all cottages.
OUR HOLIDAY HOME:
Aorangi Holiday Home. This comfortably furnished and warm home offers four bedrooms, one king, on queen, and two twin bedrooms. A modern kitchen, open plan dinning and living area assures you of a comfortable stay. The bathroom has a bath and a separate shower. It also offers a spacious balcony with lake views, spa,a sheltered BBQ area outside and safe off street parking.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is a comfortable 4 bedroom house with a comfy lounge suite, good shower and sufficient heating with the logburner, heatpump and oil heaters. The spa got plenty of use and even when it rained (and snowed!) we were happy under cover. Great views and close access to the township. The only thing we suggest is more bedding for this time of year (woollen blankets etc). I could not say it was a thumbs down.. But the receptionist was not so friendly and snappy with another customer. It was cold outside and the heater could have been turned on before our arrival. The cottage was very clean, spic and span :) lovely and quiet area .

I do apologize if you found your reception unfriendly. I lay a lot of worth on making people feel welcome. I know the customer is always king, but I cant ascertain now what the problem was as this person has left us for greener pastures. My apologies.

Our stay was comfortable but we do suggest improvements be made to the access as the wooden steps must be very slippery in some weather conditions. Also, we would have appreciated being told of an expected power outage, fortunately our stay finished about an hour after the outage began.

This place was absolutely gorgeous. Well worth the money and spectacular views from the veranda. I would imagine that this place is wonderful in the winter.

A very pleasant well equipped 4 bedroom home with a beautiful view. Well equipped kitchen, heat pump, washing machine and lovely comfy beds so all the basics plus the bonus of the large spa with an outlook to the lake. Children under 3 require supervision due to an unfenced deck but ours was over 3 and perfectly fine.

Thank you for your comments. Yes there is a small climbing pathway and two steps at the top, about 20 steps from the private parkin. The plus side is it ensures your privacy.

Got sort of the wrong idea about the second place, Tekapo Cottages, only because it felt a bit like "suburbia in Tekapo" than a lakeside cottage and therefore a little more expensive than I would have preferred for a family of 2+2. Also, the spa pool was a long way from the house and not really attractive for this time of year. But, was a lovely holiday anyway. The accommodation was still good both in Queenstown and Tekapo (if a little dull in the latter case), and Qu and Tek themselves were great. The Queenstown accommodation (Creekside) was very satisfactory especially for the price for all of us in such a convenient location.

Hello Wayne, its not advertised as a lakeside cottage, so we are sorry you had expected one. The spa pool is 10 steps from the back door on a spacious covered sundeck,which has BBQ and comfortable seating and table also. The views over to the lake and near mountains are spectacular. The balcony is the same level as the house, so there are no steps involved. Just walk outside and get into the spa. We are glad you enjoyed your stay anyway, and hope to see you again one day.
