The MacKenzie Country Inn welcomes you to Twizel and the heart of the Aoraki Mount Cook Mackenzie region. Reflecting the surrounding mountain scenery in its architecture, this beautifully presented hotel has much more than quality accommodation to offer.
Just over an hours drive to Mount Cook National Park and even less to Ohau ski field, there are plenty of exciting outdoor activities to occupy your time in this outstanding region. Choose from gliding, fishing, salmon farm visits, hydro schemes or try your hand at the golf course adjacent to the MacKenzie Country Inn.
The MacKenzie Country Inn offers guests full facilities in all of the 108 rooms that are available. These comprise of 80 standard rooms and 28 deluxe rooms, all of which are accommodated in the main, rustic hotel building and feature their own private balcony opening out to the expansive hotel property to the mountain views beyond.
All guest rooms are comfortably furnished and equipped for your convenience with irons, ironing boards, hair dryers, tea and coffee facilities, electric blankets, heating and satellite television. All rooms come with baths for you to relax and unwind.

Room was clean and spacious but....... Very dated, threadbare carpet in room, and not a quiet place to stay. Restraunt food is only average, breakfast was okay. More a two+ star rating. Rooms clean & spacious. Staff friendly but know one reminded us of the breakfast component included in our tariff. Hence we did not avail ourselves of it.

Really enjoyed our one night. We found the staff to be very friendly, the buffet meal was very tasty (was fairly basic but included soup, salads, hot vegetables, meats desert tea/coffee and all very good), the buffet breakfast was excellent.

We had an excellent stay at this hotel. Great location for Mt Cook. The service and restaurant was first class. Only stayed one night as a stop over between Queenstoen and Christchurch but enjoyed the stay.

Great motel, great price considering other places we stayed at in NZ, and what we pay in Aust. Location was good, although not a big town. It was an ideal spot to stay overnight, after a days travel and good starting point to go to Mt Cook.

Staff were friendly, evening meal was good, excellent steak, breakfst was excellent. Internet access was easy. Maybe getting a little tired and old and in need of a facelift? (The rooms I mean!)

Expensive for what we got! A very outdated decor with no extras. No Sky TV, radio not working, booked for 3 people,but only serviced for two. No extra pillows/blankets available in the room. Very disappointing!

To Mr & Mrs Olliver My sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused with this unfortunate mix up that was caused by the hotel. The fault lies directly with the hotel and it is most upsetting to have disrupted your plans. While it will not help last nights situation, as a result of this incident a new protocol has been implemented to prevent it happening again.
