  • Friendly owner, stayed at girls dorm, very nice room with the bathroom inside, very clean and tidy, and has a nice lounge room where we can chill out with the big screen tv and a lot of DVDs to watch. Will definitely stay there again when i come down to New Plymouth. 5

  • I found this hostel amazing and regret not staying there longer. Next time I am in New Plymouth I will happily stay at the Ariki Backpackers for a few days so I can truly explore the Taranaki region. Amazing accomodation experience. 5

  • This is an excellent backpacker - even in a country where many hostels are really high standard, this one is a stand out. The owners couldn't be more hospitable and the roof terrace with stunning sea views is icing on the cake. I think improvements are in progress - so it will get even better. 5

  • I had intended to leave my big heavy suitcase at the Intercity Left-luggage, but the bus was an hour late and the facility closed. Getting the suitcase up the stairs was exhausting, heavy work. Nevertheless, I will use the hostel again when I am in New Plymouth. The staff and facilities are excellent. 5
