  • It was good value for money as it is very close to the city though rooms may not be like 4 star or 5 star but nicely cleaned and resonablly priced during christmas.nice view of road and hills outside.the 4 square is just at 100 meters and other sight seeing trip sites are at walking distance.the owner is very honest and co-operating.he returned my phone charger which i left in hotel after checkout once i contacted him after checkout to check the room (if the charger is there). 5

  • Didn't feel valued when checking in. Certainly did not appreciate the double bed that my wife and i shared was obviously being two singles put together as they were old, saggy mattresses leaving a large divide between us. As ones sleep is the most important part of a stay in a hotel i felt really let down. 1

  • Views from the restaurant/bar were beautiful but service at the bar left a lot to be desired. I would recommend that you count your float before opening the bar, not in the view of customers and don't expect your customers to wait for 10 minutes while you do so!. 1

  • We had a fantastic time, the whole family were all looked after like royalty. The views are amazing and thank you so much to the staff who looked after us. We will always visit and stay one night with them on our visit. Perhaps as suggested focus on food and beverage that's all but the staff and regulars were so warm and friendly. Thank you again. 5

  • Fantastic view from balcony of our lake facing room. Clean, quiet room, friendly service. Only down side was the location, it is a bit far up Fernhill. No problem if you have your own car, otherwise bus comes every 30min. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay. I highly recommend Tanoa 5

  • Room was clean and comfortable. We stayed in a courtyard room which had a pleasant view up the hillside behind the hotel but not the stunning view over the lake! Staff were generally helpful. The view from the restaurant is stunning! and the food is OK. You definitely need a car to stay here - the hotel is a couple of K away from the town and is up a long, steep hill. 5

  • Excellent undisturbed views (-their long lawn sloping towards the lake and the Remarkables in the far bank) for a lake facing room, and helpful reception staff. Quiet. Adequate parking, and an excellent place to stay for one with a rental car. Restaurant has a limited menu; rooms well serviced; well heated; furnishings acceptable. Great value for the price: no free wireless broadband though. 5

  • Travelbug had advertised free breakfast with the $99 rate but the hotel didnt agree and we didnt get it. I emailed them (politely) but got no response. The room was satisfactory, basic but good bed and nice shower. The lawn outside the room hadnt been mown for weeks and some of the weeds were knee high. 1

  • The views were great, but the room itself is old, outdated, the bed wasn't comfortable (no support, sagged in the middle) and the bathroom needed repair. There was also very limited parking. When reserving a room on-line, I reserved a lake view, however when we checked in, they gave tried to assign us a parking lot view. After realizing this, I asked to be changed to a lakeview room, which they did. I wouldn't stay here again. 1

  • Nice hotel and staff, but shower ran hot and cold, then just cold. Meal at the restaurant was confused with a blackboard outside offering a buffet, but then being told there was none.My wife got an obsolete menu...different to mine and more confusion trying to order. Apart from that, I would recommend it. Note that the road to it is a steep climb. 5

  • Not luxury but good value for the price. Very friendly and attentive staff mainly from South America. Wonderful views from our rooms were unexpected. Quite a steep walk up the hill and 20 mins from town if you don't have a car but otherwise no problems. Very clean, good linen. 5

  • Just to let you know we did not stay at Aspen on Queenstown Hotel. When we arrived at the hotel we were told they did not have rooms for us as they had overbooked. They had booked us rooms at the Oak Shores hotel. We had spent about 30 minutes trying to find the hotel and then to have to drive back through Queenstown and find the other hotel which was easy to find, was disconcerting. Also when you travel as far as we did to find you did not have a reservation was a little upsetting but I have to say they took the initiative and did find us rooms and the Oak Shores was very nice with no increase in expenses. The hotel I am ratine is Oak Shores 4
