  • Kia Ora Linda I am sorry if you were disappointed in your stay in my home. I endeavour to keep in clean and comfortable not so concerned with fashionable and there are lots of detailed photos on the website for you to view. There is also a detailed description of what a "private" bathroom means i.e.not in the room but not shared with anyone else. There are 2 ensuite rooms available in the house and each room is priced according to the facilities. The house was not busy during your stay and we would have been happy to upgrade you to another room. All in all I hope you enjoyed your stay in beautiful Kaikoura Kind regards Judy Brook House B&B

  • We only stayed one night, but felt at home as soon as we walked in. Judy is a lovely friendly lady and makes awesome muffins. Breakfast was continental only, which suited us. Had to share the bathroom but that worked out as well. Clean and tidy. Would stay again. 5

  • Brook House is not your typical B&B. It is more like an upmarket backpackers with bonus features! There is a free and easy attitude to guests - come and go as you please- and you can cook for yourself in the nicely appointed kitchen should you wish. Continental Breakfast is included and is left out for you to help yourself. The owner is very knowledgeable and helpful and makes you feel very at home, as do her 2 dogs! 4

  • This was a 1 night stopover for us so we didn't spend much. The accommodation was acceptable and breakfast was satisfactory however there were about 10 dead bees on the window-sill above the bed which had us a little nervous while we were going to sleep! The interior is also rather dated. 2

  • Hi Megan Sorry you problems but they were not bees but kelp flies from the seaweed washed up on the nearby beach. The whole town was having problems for a while.   • Lovely warm atmosphere .judy is an excellent host without being overpowering . Nice to mix with the other guests and learn a little about their travel experiences nice quiet setting set back from the main road a real help in getting a good nights sleep .nice garden setting with plenty of outdoor furniture. Clean tidy presentation . We slept well ,had a good shower and a solid breakfast ,what more do you need? would we stay there again ,yes we would . 5

  • First time stay in a b&b and it was a great experience. Judy is such a lovely person and lets you know about all the great places to visit in kaikoura and the surrounding areas. The bathroom was very clean - even the shower floor was shining! the breakfast spread that she puts on is wonderful - so many choices! and her muffins are delish! would definitely stay here again next time we're in kaikoura. 5

  • We stayed 3 nights here and Judy was the perfect host, always so friendly, helpful and so so so very warm and welcoming. The room was perfect, everything was wonderfully clean and cozy, the choc muffins were divine, and Judy did a great job bringing all the guests together. We had some amazing times, great conversations and meals together. 5

  • Older style B&B but very satisfactory for us, it had everything we needed. Our host Judy was lovely, very friendly and hospitable. Our stay was an experience, we accepted and enjoyed the opportunity to socialise with Judy and the other guests in the evening and the morning. We are glad we chose Brook House. 5

B&B situated 2km out of town center, but hostess offered rides into town each day. Free WIFI and free use of desktop computer was a major advantage. Generous breakfast including homemade muffins. 5

  • Judith kindly drove us to the nearest supermarket so that we could buy our tea. Also the next day she rose early with us and drove us to the Whale Watch office and made sure we were booked in. Breakfast was very good with lots of fresh fruit. It would be great if the room we were in could be updated as the furnishings were outdated. The shared bathroom was very clean which is something I always appreciate. 4

  • I am sorry you were not happy with your stay but 10.00am is standard checkout time and you did not actually request an extension. During peak season we have to get the rooms cleaned for incoming guests. There is a heater stored in the wardrobe which you were welcome to use and we do provide soap in the bathrooms just not shampoo. I feel the amenities we provide i.e. complimentary tea, coffee and fresh baking, fresh flowers and chocolates in the rooms are value for money.
