We still enjoyed a pleasant 6 night stay in an "executive" suite despite not being able to use the settee and easy chair which (to us at least!)had a strong residual smell of what may well have been dry-cleaning solvent. We loved our stay at Creel Lodge. It's clean, quiet, very well equipped, very reasonably priced and run by lovely, friendly hosts. We arrived late so they had the key in the door and the light and heaters on ready for us. The setting, right beside the river, is lovely and it's a great base for anyone wanting to ski Mt Ruapehu - just a 40-min drive to the ski fields. We travelled throughout much of NZ and Creel Lodge was one of our favourite places to stay. The accommodation was delightful -spacious and well looked after and set in beautiful gardens. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and offered many services and advice to make our stay easier.
