We got engaged during this stay and the restaurant staff were fantastic in helping my partner with this :) while the meals were great, service at dinner was a little slow but this was not a major issue.   • Great deal thru travelbug, our stay at rydges was great. Only problem was where to park car at time of check in, wasn't clear that you parked right outside on yellow loading zone. Lovely room, very comfortable bed and pillows, lovely linen, everything very clean, aircon noise not so loud we couldn't sleep (pity there were no opening windows - even up the top would be great). Lovely harbour view. Breakfast nice choices. Would recommend. Pity we couldn't enjoy our stay longer!. 5

  • We stayed in rydges wellington to celebrate my bday and anniversary. The staff were very friendly and helpful and would always smile at you. We had a room upgrade courtesy of our dear friend who put us in an executive room. We had a fabulous view of the harbour and city lights. The suite was very clean, modern and the bathroom was enormous! the leisure room was a plus - sauna, gym and lap pool. We had a great stay and would definetely come back again. . 5

  • The double beds room we stayed was very clean and modern. The family special deal was great value as the buffet breakfast was probably one of the best in Wellington. The staff there on the day was a bit slack at servicing us as they were more interested in talking among themselves. They didn't tell us about the $30 charge for parking when we check in. Overall, we will definitely stay here in future. 5

  • Fantastic!! Staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Room was as described, modern and very clean. The frosted glass issue has been corrected with a blind over the glass, so no problem there. We had breakfast two mornings and the food was excellent. A large variety to choose from and plenty of it. Hotel is extremely central and after parking our car didn't use it again for two days just walked everywhere. Our kids loved the lap pool, spa and sauna (as did we for that matter) and in winter they were a great source of entertainment for everyone. We would definitely use Rydges again not only in Wellington but other places as well after such a pleasureable experience. 5

Room very clean, and "kitchenette" a bonus, although 2x Queen Beds we thought we were getting were actually only doubles. TV was a bit dated - would have expected flat screen.   • Nice place to stay although in the bathroom, the glass is frosted so there is no privacy. No dvd player in the room and older tv. Our sky watch was for June, not July when we went to stay! We called room service to order something for dinner. I called and it rang and rang and rang so i left it for 5 minutes then called again and got the same response. In the end, I called recpetion and they put us through to the kitchen. Very appalling! Movies wayy over priced ($20 for a new release) and food was soo expencive! There was a cook top but NO pots or pans to use. On the upside, the bed was very comfortable and shower was nice. - an alright stay, probably wouldn't stay there again though. 5

  • We had a good stay at the hotel and it was good value considering it was during the school holidays. It was good being able to have a family of 4 in one room as most hotels say you have to have 2 rooms which is useless when you have little kids. Staff were business like and everything went to plan. Our negatives were: a) the shower - it was either very hot or cold, and it changed so quickly that you could easily burn yourself. One day we only had cold water which wasn't great. b) we ate in the restaurant one evening and my husband had the special. When it arrived it was no bigger than a starter, with just a few bits of fish on two scewers and nothing else. There really needed to be something else with it, like a jacket potato or something similar. We didn't eat there again (and we would have if we had had a good experience). c) there was a kitchenette in the room, but no pots and pans,plates etc so we could not use it. Why have the kitchen? But overall we had an enjoyable stay and the location was superb. 5

  • Overall, the stay was ok - not bad, but just ok. But a few things weren't right in our minds. The room was quite average in size. There was a flap from the heat pump that was blowing constantly in the wind. So that kept me up all night. Also, we felt the pricing of food (breakfast buffet and charging $5 for room service)and watching a movie ($20 per movie) was too over priced for what they were. My biggest judgement though, had to do with the advertising for adult movies. There was a picture that was totally unnecessary and inappropriate where it was advertising "to watch adult movies to your discretion". It makes it tacky and unsophisticated when you offer that in the movie guide. I was personally offended that they would put that in there. A child who could be staying with his parents may see that. 1

  • I feel a bit mean giving a thumbs down but was a bit underwhelmed with our stay. Lovely decor except for the frosted glass, no privacy in the bathroom. A very comfortable bed with nice linen but our late checkout was somewhat ruined by housekeeping attempting to enter at 10am waking us up. Shower was terrible, no pressure and couldn't maintain a constant temp, was cold then boiling hot for the entire shower. Staff very polite but not overly forthcoming with information. Strangely there was a great cooktop and rangehood but no pots or anything with which to cook. We probably wouldn't stay there again for a relaxing weekend but it would be perfectly adequate as a business stayover. Valet parking much appreciated. 1

  • My partner and I had a fantastic stay here. Very modern furnishings and harbour views as stated. We paid for valet parking and they provided the car at our request in a timely manner. The staff were friendly and very informative. We stayed in the Queen Room advance booking and would definitely stay again. Highly recommend this hotel to all. 5

  • A last minute decision spurred by Travelbug's great 72 hour sale, we were impressed by the room, its well-thoughtout upmarket fitout including basic kitchen, and even a smalll balcony. Service was friendly and helpful, thank you, and all was lovely and clean. The price for fresh/new central hotel accommodation was !great value. One small thing - I haven't used/seen a non-flatscreen TV for years, where did they find those big clunky old CRT versions? And why? 5

  • Me and my 2 sisters thoroghly enjoyed our stay at Holiday Inn Wellington. I made a mistake in indicating how many will be using the room, clicking 2 instead of three, although through a special deal on Travelbug the price was the same. I called the hotel straightaway to notify them and the person who received the call was most helpful and said it will not be a problem. However, when I got to the hotel the change wasn't made. It was one of the busiest weekend for Hotels (All Whites game) so we were almost left with no twin room for one of the nights. But the hotel see to it and we were able to unpack, very relieved. The room itself was great for value, comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. And yes, we were right opposite the post office building and had to pull the curtain shut most of the time but I don't think there is anything that could be done about that. After my stay, the concierge was very helpful in giving me directions to the airport shuttle. Great service and place overall. 5

  • We enjoyed our stay. We had problems with the cards in the elevator and found many others said the same. Maybe a little care when parking cars, they parked ours only to find out when we left on Sunday they had left one door open and we had a flat battery. They fixed it for us.Also might be an idea to tell people that parking is extra we did not realise that and can not remember it being put anywhere on the information we received. It is an added cost on top of what is not cheap accommodation. 4

  • I was very happy with our stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. I'd read the comments on this page prior to booking and as mentioned they have upgraded the toiletries in the room, breakfast was lovely and service was friendly. The only comment I make is that the transition from the travelbug booking system to the hotel booking system didn't go that smoothly in that my booking was lost and it wasn't immediately obvious to staff that our breakfast was included from the system. Note that I booked two days prior to our stay and the short leadtime meant that appropriate emails hadn't been checked etc. However, the staff dealt with not being able to find my booking nicely while they found the details in their emails (I got a room upgrade for the extra wait!) and with breakfast they took our word (and found the breakfast inclusive details and let us know of this promptly). Like I said, I felt we got good value for menu and an enjoyable stay. It certainly met expectations. 5

  • Hotel was good, nice sized room, room service very quick. Facilities good and everything very clean. 'Fast food' room service option not so good (food obviously reheated quickly in microwave with resulting in hard chicken). Other room service food v good. Specifically booked twin room as 1 adult and 1 child. 'Upgraded' to an executive room presumably because overbooked? So had to share double bed with fidgetty child - not happy! 4

  • Our stay in the Holiday Inn, Wellington wel exceeded our expectations. There was no waiting for any check in time, when we arrived at 8.30am we could direct go to our room which was great. The room was quite small but very well equiped,tastefully furnished and with a great view. Service was excellent, when I asked for a comfortabel chair because of back problems a arm chair was delivered to our room within 15 minutes.We definetely will return upon our next visit to Wellington. 5
