We were not disappointed at all with the room, which was clean and well serviced, the view, which was magnificent and the staff, which we found polite and helpful. Having stayed in a number of hotels and motels all over nz i would rate this one amongst our top 5 list, and its right on our doorstep. 5

Perfectly adequate hotel with great staff and great views, but no way is this a 4.5 star hotel. It may have been 20 years ago. Good value if you get it on a deal, but not at full price. Restaurant expensive, but do read the menu which is guaranteed to raise a smile. Courtney place etc is an easy walk though. 5

Booked this through the secret sale, had a bit of an issue as when we got there it was a non air conditioned room even though it clearly stated air con on the web site. Turns out that the secret sale room was a standard which doesn't have air con. This was an absolute must for us and after making reception know they offered to send us a fan. Wasn't happy and they upgraded us but took a bit of doing. Was a disappointing way to start a romantic getaway. The new room was lovely, a great view and nice clean modern finishing. Parked overnight on the street rather than paying the hotel charge. The bed was one of the best i have had a hotel. All in all a nice stay. 5

I stayed here on a deal and booked a standard room which i was amazed with the habour views.i had to walk though the bar and restaurant to get to my room.when i went to dinner at the restaurant i was disappointed at the noise in the bar on a sunday night with a man shouting to impress his female interests. I would hope that doesn't happen again on my next vist, as it ruins the peaceful restaurant. The dinner was ok but i thought it was to fine dinning for me and would hope you would have a menu that caters for the average guy. When i had finished my meal the chef came out and asked me how my meal was which was nice.the staff are very friendly and willing to help.i paid for carparking but realized that they also had a public car park for free.i didnt have breakfast so can comment on that. 5

We had a room that would either be city or harbour views and made a special request for harbour and were delighted. Great views, friendly staff and a large shared balcony. We were in the end room though so our balcony felt private. Very welcoming and friendly staff and excellent location. Close to te papa and the supermarket, and short walk to restaurants. 5

The experience was nothing outstanding but perfectly adequate. Easy check-in; comfortable room but nothing special (which was short of an expectation because this was a 'secret deal' booking); quiet and nicely furnished. Restaurant food is very expensive in my view - much better value to be had from walking five minutes to the courtenay quarter and choosing from one of many restaurants, cafes and bistros. Points off copthorne for not replying to my booking message and not acknowledging it even when i checked in. I had two easy requests of them. Wouldn't rush back but agree that it is a well located and comfortable destination. 5

Booked the room through the secret deal. Once we found out where it was I went online to discover we could have got the budget rooms for cheaper, as well as having a meal in the restaurant for free. I then just assumed that we would be given one of the better rooms that were available as we were paying more. Not so. Turned up and the first room (828)was right on the road and we could hear every car roaring around the corner. I asked to be changed to a quieter room which they did very nicely and quickly. This room (828)had a shared balcony with a very slight view of the harbour, but was quiet and clean. I thought the room was very clean and the staff were lovely and helpful. However I did feel cheated that we got a budget room for that price, and I won't be doing a secret deal again - it's not a super deal if you can organise something yourself for cheaper. They also charge $22 a night for the carpark and you can't book it either, you just have to turn up and hope that one is available. 1

Could not fault the front of house staff! Soon as our taxi pulled up, the taxi door was opened by hotel staff with a very cheery 'Welcome to the hotel'. Bags taken in promptly and eventhough we were very early, they assured us our room would be ready by 11.00 and would ring us on our mobile to confirm (this they did). Offered to book any outings, meals or transport for us if required. Extremely efficient, friendly & helpful at 7.45am! When I left something behind in the bathroom, they found it and couriered to me the next day - fantastic service! Room was large, warm and bed very comfortable. Virtually no road noise eventhough were at the front of the hotel - just a wonderful view over the water and the city. Be back soon! 5

This is the third time here and the first time in one of the smaller back rooms(805)....it was freezing. The heater is totally inadequate to cope with the chilly gale coming under the door. A coat laid across the gap soon cured it. We never have dinner in the restaurant having had poor service in the past but breakfast is superb. Excellent service from reception. The car park is so cramped and we were reluctant to use their overflow park which had too many broken beer bottles lying around to give you confidence the car would be undamaged overnight. We booked this on a "secret hotel deal" so was a cheap price and was probably a good rate for the hotel unlike the full price advertised. 5

The room was tucked away at the back of the hotel but was quiet and beautifully presented - shame the carpet in the hallways was so stained - making the walk to our room a little concerning! Found the bar and seating area soooooo cold and voted to return to our room where we could control the heating for room service rather than sit in a cold dining room. Excellent room service meal - arrived promptly after three tries to get our call answered. Bit of a mission to reach the carpark - extra cost - but staff provided a street map with the route highlighted. Would stay again if a similar deal was available 5

Spent the night in the family room on second floor. Compared to other hotels we frequent (mostly on The Terrace), we found the staff at this hotel very pleasant. Check-in was friendly, room service was fast, especially when you have a nagging toddler :) The room itself was small but sufficient. Unfortunately, we had noisy neigbours at 01h00, but after a phone call to reception, problem was resolved within minutes. Breakfast was great, again friendly staff and chef. Coffee - not that good. Check out was a breeze. I only wish the parking bays were a little bigger, but hey, that's Wellington! Next time, I may request a room on a higher floor because the vehicle noise, on a Saturday night, can become an irritant. Overall, will stay at this hotel again, as long as the staff remain helpful and friendly. 5

Lovely place, beautiful. the only negative thing was the cocktail bar. the waitress had no idea of how to make a margarita and compensated using other ingredients because she had run out of the required alcohol. the second attempt at a new cocktail was still dismal. for the price you pay for the cocktails all staff should be up to date with how to make a great cocktail. cocktails are a must when you are staying away in such a nice place. 5
