  • We stayed 3 nights and had awesome time staying at this hotel! very nice views and great location away from the town centre. People who like central location may not like this hotels location. Our check-in experience was fantastic. Hiro, the manager on duty was very helpful with our request to change rooms. All staff were very friendly. Rooms have good centralized heating in place. Reservations at the hotel could be careful with spelling their customer names correct! although something very insignificant to be noticed while on a holiday, its not very pleasant to see your name spelt incorrectly. . 5

  • We did the mystery 3.5* deal and stayed 2 nights for $119p/n including dinner for 2. We brought our 2 kids with us, and they stayed for free. When we checked-in i asked whether the meals are suitable for people with allergies, which he assured me they would be. Unfortunately there was nothing that my son could eat on the first night (he has egg, nut and dairy allergy), in the end the chef cooked up breakfast sausages and hot chips for him. The 2nd day the staff allowed us to trade-in our 2nd nights 2-free meals for free breakfast for the four of us, which was brilliant. The bathroom was dated and rough in more ways than one, but the beds were comfortable. We didn't get to see the beautiful views due to the weather outside (torrential down pour our whole stay), but that's not the fault of the hotel. The staff were friendly. In future we would probably choose 2 separate rooms and pay a bit more, as it's a squish sharing 1 room with 2 adults/2 kids (but fine if you stay 1 night). 5

  • We stayed at the mecure queenstown for 3 nights, having booked it as the travelbug "ssh secret sale" . On booking the mystery hotel we were pretty sure it would be the mecure from the map and the reviews, and we were right. We paid $109 a night for the lakeview room with full breakfasts for both of us. The deal includes parking, but the hotel includes parking for everyone anyway so this isn't any bonus, and we parked on the street outside 2 out of 3 nights as it was full. The hotel is definitely dated in its decor and not "trendy" but the staff were friendly, the view from the room was stunning, the size of the room was decent, the bed was comfy, and the bathroom was more than adequate though could have done with a bit of an upgrade looks-wise. The best bits were the view and the breakfast. Great for pre-snowboarding, choice of breads, pastries, cereals, fruit yoghurt, juices, hot stuff like bacon, eggs, hash browns, sausages etc. Overall, great value given the cheap price!. 5

  • Room very outdated and bathroom had a strip beside the sink which looked like it was last cleaned in 1990. Cupboard door to fridge also broken, and bed was very soft with a big lump in the middle where the 2 singles were pushed together. This was the mystery deal so i guess i was looking for an impressive bargin like i have received previously at another hotel. This was still a very cheap stay for queenstown, nice walk down to the town and great bus service to the door. Breakfast was very nice and the restuarant/lobby/bar all looked very modern but the room wasn't. 1

  • We had a fantastic stay at the mercure hotel in queenstown. We booked this room under the mystery deal for 3 nights. The rooms are a little bit dated, but are very spacious and have an amazing view over the lake. The bed said it was king size but it appeared more like a super king. The room was very clean and tidy. The hotel was very warm and the temperature in the room was easily adjusted. The hotel is out of the main town area but it is a short walk downhill to the shops/restaurant area, or there is a regular bus from the hotel entrance. Overall: a great hotel to stay in. Offers everything you need, but is slightly dated. Couldn't have been happier for the pice we paid. . 5

  • We spent 4 nights at the hotel. We enjoyed our time there very much. Our room was good size, warm and had a fantastic view. Gym and spa were a welcome surprise. Was happy with the hotel's efforts to preserve energy and positively impact the environment (guests can choose to keep their linen and or towel for an extra day). The restaurant was reasonably priced (by queenstown standards) and food was gourmet. The bar had great views of the lake. Staff were very helpful. They also offered us to book activities on our behalf without extra charge. Overall i'd rate mercure 5/5 and would be very happy to return there in the future. 5

We have issues with sky in our room which took half a day to sort out, plus we had to carry our own laugagae from car to room. They saw that we had a kid and a lot of stuff but no coutesy to offer help. The swimming pool while listed as heated, was too cold to even swim in. • Male front dest reception was not attentive and friendly, My wife and I waited for almost 10 minutes when we took the initiative to tell him that we need to check in.Only then he starts checking on our reservation and booked us in for the night. It's a large double bed looking good but shockingly enough one side of the bed was having some non functional springs and was basically quite flat to the bottom, We were promised that the hotel has recently undergone some refurbishements which we anticipated the comfort should be good and not to be given a bed which seemly having no more life.We were too tired to request for a change but we did inform the lady receptionist about the problem when we checked out. The room has no "garden view" at all except some fallen shrubs and tree branches laying around the courtyard. The room heating is real good and confortable but the shower is absolutely weak. I doubt I will recommend to my family members and return to stay unless assurance of fixing 1

You changed our reservations for the third night to the Novotel. You DID transfer our luggage, but did not identify pieces with people, so we had a couple of anxious hours at the Novotel because our luggage had been deposited in someone else's room. 3

  • The first room we were given had the wallpaper peeling off and the bathroom stank of tobacco smoke. After complaining, the bathroom was "sanitised" with an aerosol, which made no difference and we complained again. We were then moved to a much better room for the first night of our stay (although it took several re-programmings and a new key card to get the electronic key card to work on the door) and a slightly better room for the second (last) night - we had to move again because the hotel was full. The menu for dinner in the dining room was the same both nights, and rather restricted, especially for my gluten free diet (one starter, two main courses and no desserts at all!) despite mentioning the diet when making the booking. The food quality at dinner was OK and breakfast was good. We would certainly think twice about staying again, even at the internet discount rate of $109 per night including breakfast. The staff were very helpful and friendly, but the hotel was a disappointment. 1

  • Excellent service...fabulous! The only problem was the spa wasnt exactly hot, more towards the cold side especially the pool itself absolutely freezing. Even though the weather was hot it still didnt change my mind about taking a dip in the pool because of how cold it was...but therefore I highly recommend staying, friendly staff and service was on top. Would stay again. 5

  • Our Pool View room was very comfortable. The hallways were a bit tired looking, but the rest of the hotel was very clean and tidy with stylish decor in the reception areas.Breakfasts were great. Service was good at the Reception desk.Fantastic lake views from the bar and restaurant. We felt we got value for money and would recommend to all. 5

  • Again the staff helpful, but customer service not at full strength (see below) & beds comfortable. Unfortunately this time the room was stuffy & hot & airless. The view of the pool not as good as the first night. Repainting the hallway the same colour is NOT updating the decor. Hideous colour. Customer service:- Advertising you have a drying room BUT NOT having it available in summer for those people who walk the tracks (in ALL weathers )was NOT acceptable. If you continue to recommend this hotel to future Ultimate Hikes participants this facility should be available or at least the hotel management should keep themselves informed of track conditions and the possible needs of their customers. 3

  • On the positives the staff were helpful, the beds comfortable and the view magnificent. However the decor of the room was tired & dated. The bathroom decor look was also tired & dated & needed a spruce up. It was a bit of a journey to locate the pool area, having to go through the main hallway in a towel was a little embarrassing. The hotel location I thought was a bit far from the center of town, this could have been advised in the information so that we could have made an informed decision. 3

  • I took the bus from Mt Cook which didn't arrive queenstown until 6:30. By the time I got settled at the Mercure and got a cab back to downtown, it was 7:30 and I almost missed the pre walk briefing. I could have missed the morning meet time. Otherwise, the hotel was fine, but due to its remoteness, I wouldn't push it too much. 3

  • The views from the hotel were spectacular. The staff were helpful and efficient. However, the hotel seemed unable to cope with the rush of visitors at breakfast because many were part of coach parties who eat together. It also allowed smoking in many parts which did not help the air quality. 3

  • The view was amazing and the front desk staff really nice and helpful. The room wasnt the cleanest, the toilet dripped all night and the floor around the toilet smelt like urine :( The shower ran very hot or cold at a tiny touch of the hand. Beds were comfy and good blackout curtains in room. And one of the cleaning staff helped herself to my Womans Day magazine which i had just brought and not read so was abit peeved and concerned at that. Front desk gave us 4 free drinks as a apology tho. Amazing area to be in, which made up for the mediocre condition of the room. 6/10 would be my marking. Would stay again tho. 5

  • The hotel itself was ok, but a bit rundown and needing some updates! The view it provided was the best part of the hotel. Although the staff was friendly and helpful; the service was lacking. They missed our wake up calls twice which put us in a bad position when trying to get to our early appts for our Ultimate Hike and our Milford Sound trips. The keys didnt work three times either... so small stuff but things you should expect from a full service hotel. Staff was nice though. 3

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mecure Resort Queenstown. We had excellent service from the bar, where we also enjoyed our evening meal (and the wonderful sunset). Although the service from the wait staff was excellent, the room facilities were below what was expected. On arriving to our room, it smelt of cigarettes and needed to be aired. Additionally two of the three lightbulbs in the lamps were blown, and the double beds were a little small (would have preferred one queen bed (rather than two small doubles). Saying this, we still enjoyed our stay at Mecure Resort Queenstown. 4
