  • Very disappointing stay. Our first room was located on the corner of a busy intersection. We were relocated to another room - it was next to the lift. So very little sleep that night. There seemed to be only one staff member in the whole hotel - he was very good and was on reception and housekeeping etc i would definitely not stay there again. . 1

  • Definitely not worth the money. I felt like i was back in a uni dorm room. Stuffy rooms, no a/c, windows barely open. After first sleepless night we asked for a quieter room, which wasn't much quieter, since we had to have windows open. Not even a comfy chair in the room to sit in, have to sit on the bed or on the hard desk-chair. Bed in the second room was reasonably comfy though, so thats about the only positive thing i can say. 1

  • Room was spacious, and staff friendly. Ventilation is an issue in the room, as only the little windows could open and we had very hot weather that weekend. More attention to the website, which promised a pool, that is no longer open. Also lack of communication between room service and housekeeping, as the empty tray was left in the room after cleaning. Issues that were resolved, but prevented an excellent rarting, just a good rating. Will stay here again. Thank you . 5

  • I was very happy with the room, but the front of house restaurant staff in the morning left a bit to be desired. A bit more professionalism on their part and you got a great hotel. Might also be nice to tell the customers you have a gym in the building also, i only found out from the book in the hotel room, which i had to get from the house maid. A great price and surprisingly quiet for so close to town. Overall a wonderful stay. See you next time :-). 5

  • I enjoyed my stay at the mercure wellington willis street-the room was as expected for the price -small but cosy-and was well serviced during my three day stay. The staff were friendly and obliging, and i was impressed with the quality of the food at dinner. The breakfast was ok, if a little expensive for what was on offer. I certainly would recommend this hotel to other travellers who are looking to stay at a reasonable hotel at a reasonable price. 5

  • An older hotel that has been redecorated reasonably recently. My room was small but nicely laid out in a modern, minimalist business traveller configuration. No cupboards, but more than enough hangers and coat-racks for a short stay. The bathroom was clean and well maintained and everything worked well I walked and caught buses during my stay and so can’t comment on the car-parking. The restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. I only ate there in the evening once as I wanted to try other places around town, but I was sorely tempted to. The fish dish was fantastic. An extremely well designed combination of interestingly compatible flavours. The breakfasts were very nice but nothing I can rave about as out of the ordinary. I ate them happily, thoroughly enjoyed them and would again. Overall I’d happily stay there again and would try and fit in eating there on a future trip to Wellington even if I weren’t staying in the hotel. 5

  • I got this on a secret sale and the room on the 5th floor had two amazing views.the view from the window down willis street was amazing and i could see the sea. I had a desert and coffee from dish restaurant and it was great.i wish i had had dinner their but i went to a movie in wigan street, only a few minutes walk from here.it worked out great as cricket one day match was on. I was allowed in my room early which was great as i had lunch from a voucher elsewhere.when i was allowed in my room i asked the chair by the desk to be replaced as it was scruffy no problem their it was replaced. A good selection of channels on the lcd tv. Room service after 10pm menu was hot and very nice pie and toasted sandwich and chips.the location was great with willis street new world and cuba street within walking distance. Thanks welling for the free fireworks display from my window it looked amazing. One thing i have noticed is the don't put bedspreads on beds anymore.the view is better than other stay. 5

Pleasantly surprised with a bath that I enjoyed after a long walk from the city centre which I miscalculated because I followed the Willis route. It is actually just a short walk to Cuba St and Courtney Place where the restaurants and shops are, perhaps 10-15 minutes, if you take the corner route. Chinese restaurant nearby offers excellent food. Staff are friendly and helpful. Will definitely consider staying again. 5

  • I have to give this a thumbs down as we had to find out on our own that there was no hot water because a boiler had broken. We were not contacted about this problem so had no shower in the morning or at night to freshen up for a conference. We were not even offered compensation for this. I will not be recommending to friends or staying again, the discount and price of the room did not make up for having no hot water. On a good note the staff (although seemed to have no authority) were very pleasant. 1

  • One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. Room was very ugly with horrible stains (which could have been removed) on the carpets. The T V did not work. My room was very noisy all night. Plates left outside room opposite an unconscionable time. Asked for more coat-hangers (two in room), was told they would be delivered immediately, hours later had to ask again. Powerpoint in bathroom did not work. When I complained about room and asked if I would have been given a better room if I had contacted the hotel directly instead of using an online service, Yash on reception (who grinned all through my complaint/feedback) said, yes. I had booked and paid for the room a month in advance. I asked for an airport shuttle to be booked the day before I left. I was assured it had been. It did not come and the shuttle company said they had not been booked. I would have to be very desperate to stay at this hotel again. If you are offered Room 201, refuse it. 1

  • I booked in for several nights through the internet, and each time i wanted to reenter my room i had to get a staff member to let me in. How stupid was that!!! The key wouldn't work so what was th point of having it? The pools and sauna were disgustingly dirty. The carpet in the office looked tragic as it was so worn and you could see it clearly from the front desk. The lift needed a good clean including having the carpet replaced. I was disappointed in the overall quality of the room but it was cheap, so I got what I paid for. I wouldnt stay there again. I had a massage downsatirs in the fitness centre and that room was dirty as well. Out of 10 I would give it a 4 overall. 5

  • Dear Cathy Thank you for your feed back I have received via your post on Travelbug with regards to your recent stay at Mercure Wellington Willis Street. It is through feed back such as yours that we are able to make improvements to our service. I have had our IT team review the door lock to the room that you stayed in and we could not find any faults with the system. The key card can lose it's information if they are sometimes next to a cell phone or something magnetic. The pool and sauna and gym facilities downstairs are operated by Sportswide, I am sorry that you found these areas to be unsatisfactory. I have passed on your concerns directly to the owner of the gym. The carpet and the back of the office is due to be replaced later this month. While you will not return to our property we would like to welcome you back to Accor Hospitality and have the 4 star Novotel, 3.5 star Ibis or Mercure Wellington to choose the next time you are visiting. • Staff friendly enough. Breakfast enjoyable but that was it, rooms & furniture really old including bar furnishings. Carpets in lift stained & one opposite our room was broken down, had to put one of laundry bags lying in hallway against door to stop it opening & shutting all night. Wind whistling through windows. Seemed like we were given a room in staff quarters as laundry , office etc right next door. Very disapointed & would not stay again. As stated above, I guess is cheep for a reason. Certainly would not recomend to anyone. 1

But when i got back into the car they had changed the position of the steering wheel, the drivers seat and the settings on the heater and radio. No closet very small rooms with no ventilation what so ever.Even thou swimming pool/gym says 24/7 it was closed when we stayed there. Wanted to use the internet service but that was broken and wasnt working. The lifts are very small and look like they are a 100 years old. Dont be fooled by the pictures we booked a queen bedroom but just got a double bed . A total waste of money you could find something much better for maybe just $10 more. The only good thing about the stay was the breakfast that was exceptional. Loved the buffet breakfast. Never think i will stay there again. Absolutely rubish. I really dont recomend this place. 1

The rooms were complete with '70s frosted ceilings, had no ventilation other than windows, horrible old lino bathroom, and a shower-over-bath only with very low water pressure. Could hear traffic noise with the windows closed. The lift is about 50 years old and downright scary. I guess it's cheap for a reason. 1
