  • Great place to stay. I asked for rooms with a view and next to each other and we got that. The staff were very friendly. The only disappointment was that the jacuzzi was not working and we looked forward to spending time there. I think we expected a bit more from the room (it was very plain but clean) especially after seeing the entrance and pool area, but enjoyed our stay anyway. Will be back and hopefully the jacuzzi will be working then. 5

Having just spent two days at another 5star hotel in auckland not sure how this hotel received its 5 stars.would not recommend staying unless they changed attitude. 1

My sincerest apologies if you felt you did not have a positive Pullman check-in experience. It is quite unusual that you had such a different check-in experience to the other TravelBug reviewers who stayed around the same time as yourself and have nothing but positive comments for our staff and their service. With regards to your room, thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention so we were able to fix your concerns. Thank you again for your review. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms had a nice view of the park and were very warm. Spa, pools and gym were awesome. Cons- not exactly 5 star more like 4, bathroom was shabby, small, the door got stuck, no working fan in the bathroom either sky was very limited with no tv guide for finding out what was on. Tea and coffee facilities were limited and awkward to make as there was no where to put the kettle but on the floor. Overall a great stay, came back totally relaxed, would do again. 5

  • The secretsale was good with valet parking and breakfast. However, the queue for breakfast was ridiculous and at 10.30 we asked if we could have it in our room. We were given a free in room option, great service, but when paying for an executive room and access to the club room, where breakfast should have been, i would expect that to happen. This is a lovely hotel and the service is great when you ask, the spa makes the place. 5

  • Great facilities, spa fab, massage awesome, clean rooms, staff great. We went to dinner @ the restaurant downstairs unfortunately, the bread was still cold in the middle & dry. My husbands rabbit ragout had bits of bone in it he had to spit it out. My waggu rump was not medium as asked & it was chewy. Really disappointed! saturday night executive lounge was chaos because anyone can pay to go up there even when you are not staying in an executive suite there were people lined up for drinks & food & they ran out of seats for people to sit. . 5

  • Not overly impressed at 5 star standard. The rooms, especially bathrooms are quite small. The spa facilities are good though. Valet parking was expensive at $30, especially as my car was parked in a wilson carpark. In my confirmation email with travelbug it stated that valet parking was $25, not $30 they charged me. Expected food and drinks prices to be high, but not that high. Not even a complimentary biscuit in the room with your cup of tea! i cringed at the dirty and worn arm rests on the sofas in the hallways. Overall not a bad stay, but prefer other 5 star accommodation in the city. 1

  • It turned out the sale was secret to the hotel, If it wasn't for my smart phone we would have been up a creek without a paddle. After finding the booking email and sending it to the Hotel we were mucked around for another half an hour before a room was issued to us. Same trouble in the morning as they were going to charge me again for the room, The only way i could convince them i had payed was by showing them the money had gone through in my bank account. On the bright side we were given a late check out and a drink at their bar on them. The hotel was good, friendly service, view was a bit shabby but you get that with highrise buildings around you. 1

We fussed around and within a few seconds she found us a standard room. Very unprofesional way of trying to upsell ! Facility was ok. Massage was good. 1

  • Should not be sold as a 5 star hotel. Total confusion when we arrived with the travel bug voucher (like they had never seen one before). Extractor fan not working on bathroom at all and no window - no ventilation. Quite a few black hairs in the bath! When we went to check out - once again confusion regarding the travel bug voucher. Believe it or not... they then ended up charging the full amount to our credit card R206.00 even though we paid in full when utilizing travel bug. Not a good experience at the Pullman Auckland. 1

  • They stay itself was ok, but below the Pullman standard I was used to in Europe. The bed was wonderful, but the bathroom was tiny. No parking was available at the hotel (unless you paid an additional $25 for valet parking) with staff unhelpful (they even suggested parking somewhere in the street and inserting coins into the parking meter every 2 hours ...). Not a bad hotel, but definitely not a up to the usual Pullman standard. 1

  • Not enjoyable at all. When checking in at 3pm they did not have a room ready for my friend and I who requested a twin room back in May. Found the room to be run down and somewhat tired. I won't be staying there again. 1

  • Very nice roomy room. Not a great view but we could see a glimpse of Rangatoto and we weren't crowded in by other buildings which was quite nice. Couldn't expect better for the price we paid and much better than some much more expensive hotels. The sauna facilities were fantastic. Staff were pleasant. The only real criticism was the noisy bedside clock ticking that we had to remove the battery from. A clock radio would have been much better also there was no Bar fridge price list in the room, we stopped at reception and they said they would send one up, an hour later we had to call reception again to request one to be sent up. All up good value for money and a pleasant stay and would defiantly stay again. 5

I asked at reception who said that they don't have anything below a premium - so the upgrade was a con. I had my room actually upgraded at reception to a larger room with a view. The room was 'o.k.' not great, the milk was off, only one robe, yet two pairs of slippers and a fuzzy picture on the tv. I have stayed in a lot nicer hotels in Auckland one's graded as 3 star. I would not book this hotel again. 5

  • Really liked the Pullman Hotel. We thought the breakfast was pretty expensive at $35.00 each but we did know that but still chose to eat there. Mind you, it was an extremely yummy breakfast, just wish I'd been hungrier! Probably the most diasppointing thing for us was that we were told at reception that parking would be $15.00 as we were staying in the hotel but when we went to leave and we put our parking ticket in the machine it was $36.00!! So make sure you get the cost of parking confirmed in writing or something when you check in as it was a terrible shock to find that out when we were leaving. We got the hotel deal through "Treat Me" so paid a reasonable price to stay here. I wouldn't have liked to have paid full price. But to conclude on a positive note, it was nice to have a night out in a hotel and as it was the first day of the school holidays for us, it was a lovely way to kick it off. Overall it was a nice place to stay. 5

  • Probably wouldn't stay there again. Not what we expected for a 5 star hotel. We were given a small room beside the lift with a crap view, the plastic clock was broken and there was a small cockroach in the bathroom. We complained to reception who were very understanding, they gave us 2 x comp drinks vouchers and moved us to another room which was much nicer, slightly bigger and had a sea view, although the air vent was full of dust, there was really nowhere convenient to put the kettle and only 1 bathrobe, yet 2 sets of slippers. The staff were really helpful, but the rooms were not up to the "5 star" standard we envisaged, having stayed in much nicer 3 star hotels. 1

  • Had a nice stay and was pretty good value for money, but would hardly label Pullman as a 5 star hotel. Staff were very nice and accommodating (except for one of the doormen with an earpiece who needs to be taught some customer service skills), despite making us wait 1 hour in the lobby after checking in and forgetting about us when we requested to view one of the residence rooms, which was supposedly not vacant. We were then told we would receive a call in our room to advise when this could be done but after not being claled, had to go back to reception to follow up. Late check out was appreciated and a great idea but could have done without the 11 am mini bar check (I see another reviewer mentioned that as well!(). We stayed 2 nights and swapped rooms but still have doubts as to whether the second one had a King bed...looked more like a queen size. 5

Close enough to walk down to the restaurant we wanted to go to on Shortland Street. Bit of a climb home, though! There seemed to be a few trainee staff which sometimes slowed sevice at reception and in the resturant at breakfast, but eveyone was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay again. 5

  • Well It was a treat from my partner for my birthday. Prior to us going she rang and asked if there was parking to be told yes there is and also Valet parking..... wasn't told that there is a charge for parking and that for a saturday night you had better be in quick as it may be full. Cost us Valet parking otherwise we had no where for our car. Then we were not asked anything about what we required for a room and they put us in a twin room and it was a smoking room so it stank. We had booked a superior king and staff offered to change the bed but it wasn't with much enthusiasm But apart from those things the sauna, pool and spa were great and the breakfast buffet was good value for money. 1

  • A superior room in a 5 Star hotel was a special treat for my wife for her 60th Birthday. We were disappointed firstly being allocated a twin room on the 9th floor and secondly being relocated to the 8th floor which was a smoking floor. As soon as the lift door opened the smoke hit us.On both occasions we were not informed of the type of room we were allocated. We did not seek another room. Came away on Sunday reeking of stale smoke in our clothes. I would have thought in this day and age that there would be no such thing as smoking floors. Surely a designated area, outside, could be allocated for smokers. We mentioned this at departure but staff member didnt seem all that interested 1

I had to pay an extra $105 to park in the hotel car park. If I took the wifi it would have cost an extra $210. When you email travelbug they don't reply! I don't mind paying to park, I dont mind paying for wifi, I object to being ignored and I object to charges being hidden! The hotel is plush and the staff are great, I think you get the smallest room going unless you upgrade(but the smallest rooms aren't that small). • A very disappointing overall experience. The restaurant let the whole experience down - a squashed bug on my napkin at dinner, then the veges separate to the rest of the meal, so it went cold. Same at breakfast - after dishing up all the hot food, only to find out you order your eggs separately. They take so long to be cooked that the rest of the food is cold and then they add meat to them without previous mention (I'm vegetarian)! The room was dated, but nice. We live in the Eastern Suburbs of Auckland which meant taxi in, taxi home for dinner, so not only cost effect, but also a nice experience. Of course at the time of buying the deal we didn't know what the hotel was going to be, but it said they had 5 Stars, so it had to be something reasonable. I really think it is more at the top end of 3 to 4 star. The hotel I thought looked a bit tired, I would have thought for 5 stars there would have been dressing gowns and slippers. All in all, apart from that, it was a great stay and the staff were nice and helpful and friendly. 5

  • Good value and everything fine except for their concerns about the use of a Debit Card. They made a bit of a hooha and took $50 deposit off that same card. Shame really because they have enough detail to track customers so there need not be any anxiety attached to the use of a Debit Card. Parking charge needs to be outlined in advance. 5

  • Great hotel, staff were very friendly. Rooms were clean and well stocked with the essentials. I wouldn't however, recommend the eggs benedict on the room service menu. It was absolutely awful. The hollandaise was so bland, I am pretty sure white bread would have more flavour and the eggs were served hard. Very disappointing. Overall, a great stay and I will definitely be back :) 5

  • Fantastic value for $99. We also liked the fact we were treated like any full-paying guests:) Staff are a treat...not stuffy like other 5 stars. 5

  • Paid $99 which seemed to be a fair price for this hotel however... would rate it in the 4 star( max) category. It is an older style hotel on the fringe of CBD, close to Uni, with smaller traditional 80's style hotel rooms & bathrooms (rather than similar priced suites eg Heritage/ Metro) - we stayed in room 224, and although the rooms have been given an "update" the baths are very narrow/short shower over bath arrangements ... relics of the past - ours had the most disgusting blue and green stains with previous occupants body hairs, no robes as per most 5 star and attempting to visit pool/spa area (within hours), can lead to you being locked out , at side entrance which was not great, when swimming with kids! But good points ... bed was crisply made with double white sheeting duvet & no superfluous bed spreads/covers that are used by mutliple guests but not washed, latest copy on MIndfood Magazine in room, (but I didn't get a morning paper either! No i-phone/ charger ... but old retro exceedlingly loud ticking alarm clock, from which we removed battery to sleep , but Valet parking at $25 was reasonable and perhaps even cheaper than most at $30+, check-in was swift & polite. Best of all, were my favourite Roger&Gallet Toiletries in room - definately a Sofitel touch ... wish there was one here!!!! Would stay again if bath was clean!! 5

  • A very nice hotel and lovely staff. The hotel room we stayed in was very noisy, we could hear people having conversations outside on the footpath and we unfortunately didnt get much sleep. 1

  • Glad we didn't pay full price for this. I didn't think it was up to the 5 star rating. The decor was dated and towels had holes in them. I asked for a water view on the booking and the view we got was GORGEOUS up on the 11th floor. I also tried to find out about parking charges before i bought the deal but was not able to get any info from Travelbug. Travelbug, please provide that info on future deals. Having said that we paid $8 per day (weekend) for parking which was very reasonable. Gym was pretty cramped too. Didn't get to try out the pools. If it was a 4 star hotel i would be rating it 5+/5. 5

  • Lovely hotel, room was clean and we had a great view. No complaints about anything, definitely worth the mystery deal price we paid! Although from recollection there was a NZ Herald included which we didn't get but otherwise we are two very happy customers! $15 parking is pretty reasonable for multiple entry full-day parking too. 5

  • Had a great view over the park, a lovely big bed, and beautiful room. Felt the shower was a fraction narrow and probably needed a shower door rather than curtain, this felt more motel than 5 star. Overall a lovely quiet place to stay.Staff were friendly and happy to help. 5

  • The room was nice enough but we were dissappointed by the view - especially considering I had phoned to ask about the room and been told there would be a nice view. Would have been nice to be warned about $15 parking during the phone call also! The toilet had not been cleaned properly which was a bit of a shock. Over all, just ok, glad it was a mystery special and not full price. 5

  • Initially given a queen sized bed but when I told them I was promised a king sized one, they were happy to upgrade me to 7th floor without any fuss and extra charge considering we had our son sleeping with us. Very clean and excellent service. Staff courteous and helpful...Happy to recommend to others...:) Awesome view from our room. 5

  • The room was nice enough for the price. The bed was excellent. I was a bit dissapointed to have to pay $15 for parking at a 5 star hotel. The room was a bit dated and I would say did not deserve a 5 star rating. Everything was spotless of course. I think a plunger coffee would have done well instead of instant. I would rate the experience 3.5 out of 5 5

  • The room had all we needed, lovely view from the 11th floor over the harbour and we were lucky enough to get into our room 3hrs early which was ideal as we had to get ready for a wedding. Friendly helpful staff, well worth taking a chance on the mystery deal! 5

I was told that they will be updating it all to meet Pullmans requirements and this will make the hotel even nicer. Rooms was nice, as was room service and breakfast was great. Will deffinetly stay again 5
