Yep great just like stepping back in time bed very comfy sleep well everything old but in good nic,shower works great ,little fridge noisy so unpluged it.very quite area.would stay again hopefully this summer.got in very late would have been good if could watch a bit of tv to chill but tv no digital.i think.!all good. 5

Outdated and had a bad smell. Badly in need of a tidy up. Cobwebs in the bathroom. Stayed 10 minutes then decided to leave. Changed booking time on ferry and left. Do not recommend. We will never use again. Cheap and nasty. We booked managers special but will be more careful where we stay in future. 1

I'd read the comments and understood this might not be the finest hotel in wellington but it was within the cost point I wanted. I found the place to be clean though in need of a face lift, the restaurant acceptable and fairly busy, the staff most accommodating and helpful. I also booked on the managers special and when I asked for the complimentary bottle of wine, the manager was very accommodating. I feel like I got what I paid for and it was fine 5

Though the hotel could do with refurbishing, the rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable,fresh clean linen every day, NO FLEAS or BEDBUGS, The service & Breakfast was as good as anywhere. Good location. Easy access to city centre through Botanical Gardens and cable car. Also easy to reach ferry port in early morning. Basic but very comfortable - excellent value for our overnighter (the cheapest of our trip). Easy forward booking through I- Site. Free (and very good) wifi was a great bonus. 5

Absolute crap - Unfortunately I didnt read the other comments made about this place till after I had paid on line! My 3rd floor room was supposed to be a single and a Queen - guess what...2 singles. I complained and got an upgarde to what (in Australia) would be best described as 3 star, but had a single and a Queen.I know it only cost $85 but I have stayed in better for the same cost whichat was excellent.I chose the MANAGERS AWAY special with a chilled bottle of N.Z. wine waiting my arrival. I had to go and ask for it and then had to ask the water to get me a bottle. The clerks/managers? appeared to be Uni students moonlighting and couldn't care less about a single aspect of the word: SERVICE. Wouldn't go back!!! 1

Unfortunately I didnt read the other comments made about this place till after I had paid on line!Most of the hotel appears to be unused,the first 2 floors werent heated etc.My 3rd floor room smelled of mothballs and felt far from spotless.I know it only cost $85 but I have stayed at another comfortable Wgtn hotel for the same cost and that was excellent.I chose the MANAGERS AWAY special with a chilled bottle of N.Z. wine waiting my arrival.I couldnt find it but then it didnt state it was complimentary!!!The clerks/managers? appeared to be Uni students moonlighting and apart from hearing other guests all night behind closed doors the hotel seemed deserted,not 1 person in the restaurant and bar although to be fair the Karori mensa society were holding their A.G.M. in one of the conference suites. 1

Well where do we start?? Very dirty rooms, dirty linen, the last peoples rubbish still in the room, 2 snowy t.v channels, mouldy smelly bathroom, but worst of all ... an uncertified lift that trapped my husband inside, the manager and staff had no idea how to get him out and were not willing to seek help. Thank goodness for the fire service turning up from an anonomous call from an outsider!! Then we were rudely questioned by the manager about who called them. No apology or anything. NOT RECOMMENDED!! It was cheap and we dont mind old furnishings but this was a serious health and safey violation! 1

Hotel was hard to find - the name showing on the building was different than the name it was advertised as. We had driven past twice and had to phone them before we found that out. The decor is outdated and the room was not clean. We were very happy with our meal at their restaurant. No probelms there. 1

No Travelbug paperwork on arrival; my second visit within six weeks, same room, comments about repairs had been followed up. No light bulbs in bedside lights. Room was clean and comfortable for the price, staff friendly and obliging - no problem about staying with a dog. Good fringe CBD location, would certainly stay again when on business in Wellington. 5

In definite need of a refurbishment. Would not stay there again. 3 adults in a room , 2 towels given!! Had asked for a portacot, got given 2 small thin cushions!!!! (finally an acutal portacot was bought in). Absolutley appauling! Firstly we had an evening check in and room not made up. Moved to another room with a double bed, we had booked and paid for a double and single. The mattress and underlay were badly stained, the sheets were so thin you could see through them. Tne "white" flannels were so stained and grey we would'nt use them. There were buckets in the dining room for the leaks 1

NOT IMPRESSED!! First off, I had booked a room with 2 double beds but was put in a room with only 1 bed. So when I asked to be switched to what I ordered she wouldnt meet me at the new room, I had to drag all my luggage down to the front lobby to get a new key myself. Then when we finally got into the other room, the pillows and towels looked dirty! The hotel was right across the street from the Botanical Gardens but that is about the only thing I liked about this hotel! 1

If you're booking through this website with a deal - e.g. free Continental breakfasts - make sure you print off the additional page from the website with this included as we needed to have this to insist on getting the deal that we'd booked! They had also booked us into a room that didn't match our booking and this had to be changed. TV reception was very limited (no TV1,2,3 or News) and not what was advertised. Called them up on first and second days but still not rectified or anything offered in its place. Not sure where the $1.2 million was spent last year? Location is good though! 1

Hotel is a bit tired and needs a bit of a shake up. Paperwork in the rooms is out of date with the wrong hotel name listed in many places. Menu prices in room are not the same as what is charged and the room menu seems to have items that aren't served. No salt or pepper provided with room service breakfast. Items on main menu weren't available when ordering. No plug for the bath. Food was excellent much better than expected. Overall ok but needs a bit of a lift. 5/10 5
