We stayed here on a very busy weekend as it was the bledisloe cup game ! it was a nice experience.tefficient were efficient , the rooms ready and we check in early yet no trouble at all.will stay here again! tnx travel bug for having a hotel available when it was a sold out weekend! i will now check your website first before other websites. . 5

Very disappointing stay for a number of reasons: 1) we weren't advise that there is a construction site right next to our room - so it was very very loud from about 7am onwards and really it went on throughout the day. 2) it was not possible to know exactly which room we were going to get. We had call the scenic hotel central call centre straight after booking but they advised us that we could make a 'request' and they would do their best to oblige. But they couldn't 'guarantee' anything. We ended up having to take what they gave us as we arrived. 3) manager at reception was 'professional' but definitely not 'friendly' or 'helpful'. We had to get our bags urgently from storage as our bus was coming. We were told to wait and eventually the bus left before we could get our bags. Positives were that the rooms were clean, hotel was central, etc, but that's what you'd expect paying this amount of money. They really need to work on the 'personal' side of things a bit more. It's people they're dealing with after all. . 1

Thank you taking the trouble to comment and please accept my apology that you had some issues.The construction development next door has a permit from 6am which can be hopeless particularly as many of our guests are still on different time zones. Thankfully the construction is just one storey tall so it's impact has been briefly annoying and I am so sorry you had to suffer. Sincerely Ken Moffett, General Manager.

Had a lovely stay - central for most things. Only downside was the $20.00 parking fee wich was not mentioned on booking - nor did they say every time you need your car they charge you an extra $20.00. Room service girls were very friendly and helpful. 5

Friendly helpful front desk. I managed to only book for a studio double bed but needed a studio double bed and single. It wasn't a problem and we checked in early morning. Compact, clean, tidy and well serviced. A little noisy - skaters in the car park. I would definite stay again. Fantastic pillows and comfortable bed! 5

Friendly staff,comfortable, supprisingly quiet for queen st. but not 4 or 4.5 star, 3.5 at best due to very small bathroom. One sour note beware valuables, light-fingered cleaner, I had my pirate Disney DVDs I brought from China for my sister's kids lifted from the room the first day. Not much I could do police - wise as they were pirate copies , which is probably why the cleaner thought they could get away with it!but did report the loss to front desk. To Date nothing further. Would stay again on the same deal but be more careful. 5

All staff helpful, clean room and bed, comfortable room. 1 hook needed on curtain (left side, where they meet) and clock radio needs rewiring so not so static-y, but staff helpful with it. Really enjoyed my stay. One night a year boy and girl racers can legal race through the central city, past the window of my room, it turns out, and late into the night. I only figured out was has happening 2 days later when it was mentioned on the radio. I was fine - it was the centre of a city, after all, but for next year can I suggest a large bowl full of earplugs at reception? I watched tv and slept with no problem, but it would be good for reception to let people know it's going on and for just that one night, to be proactive and expect to make apologies for what is out of their hands. Looking forward to being there again! 5

One or two things need addressing, ie: 3/4 new clips for the drapes but nothing major. Not quiet but ok given the time of year. Free paper, valet parking (with fee) free luggage storage and late car pickup ok, awesome shower. Overall a good experience at the Travel Bug Secret price. Would stay again. Room was very quite.(We live in the country)Front of house staff were very friendly and helpful.A couple of small things we were a bit disappointed on were, sheets were too small for the bed,in the ad it said"parking" but what it should of said was you have to pay for parking... by the night and appliances need to be checked, as i ironed a garment and had the iron on the lowest heat but it melted it..Apart from that..we had a fantastic stay. 5

Scenic staff kindly responded to our request for a quiet room. Staff kindly relocated us to another room once we found the first room was noisy. The room was nicely set up with adequate lounging and dining area as well as well positioned bathroom and bedroom. Complimentary paper was much appreciated. Easy access to Queen Street etc. 5

Real pleasant stay.... Electrical power points were a bit awkward especially for Malaysian tourists.. Would have been more convienient if adaptors were made available...But the trouble is... never asked for it.. Would be back again in the future... 5

We had to wait to get into our room as it hadn't been cleaned yet, we were told to wait and it would be 20 minutes, after this time we were told it would be another 10 so after waiting again we still couldn't go up. We then asked if we could leave our bags in a secure location as there was quite a bit of valuable gear in them and were assured that would be fine and they would be put in a secure room. We left the lobby and came back about 20 minutes later to find they were still sitting there and anyone would have been able to pick them up. The room was great so no complaints there, staff were always polite. Unfortunately when we left we went to pay the bill and found that we were charged for car parking which when I did the initial inquiry there was no mention of a charge or when we arrived. We had also given the 20 minute notice for the car to be delived so then ended up waiting for about 1/2 an hour. Maybe it is understaffing that is the problem?? 5

Nice stay, friendly staff. There were a few small problems (coffee, new towels not replaced when housekeeping tidied room. Disappointing response to simple e-mail question confirming booking) but these were fixed straight away without any fuss when I queried them. Lobby and Lifts did have a funny musty smell (like stale urine) when we arrived, but later that day smelt of cleaning products, so the hotel must have been aware of the problem at least. There was some noise outside, but we were on 2nd floor facing the street and it was Friday night after the Big Day Out concert, so a little noise was to be expected. Would stay again if I got another good price ($99 per night). Good for the price, not worth too much more though. 7/10 5

Yes the Big Day Out weekend was very busy and there was certainly more traffic down the street than normal.
