  • Considering it was such a big complex/operation there, I was pleasantly surprised to find plenty of staff who were very switched on and attentive. The room looks like it had just been redecorated and was beautiful. The bed was enormous and very cosy, and the curtains did a great job at blocking out the sun. Parking charges aren't stated on the booking website so I had to call in advance, and discovered they were $20 per exit from the carpark, or $30 per day for valet parking. I took the latter option and was charged only $30 for my 2 night stay which was very reasonable and the service was great. My only gripe was with access to the swimming pool, you have to walk through a public area to get there. We received many bemused looks as we were walking past the casino, bars and restaurants in our swimsuits, white robes and slippers on a Friday night!!! 5

  • We had a Courtyard facing room which was very quiet, no road noise. Every day I had to phone for extra towels and glasses as they only left 2 sets and there was 3 of us. My only real complaint was with the Internet charges which were outrageous. It constantly defaulted back to the sign in page, and I spent 4 X as long trying to connect as what was actually spent online. I got a $80 bill on check out for at most a couple hours of internet time, I voiced my displeasure and got it down to about $40 which for 3 nights is rediculous as anywhere in US and Canada it's complimentary. The new Countdown Supermarket is a block away so buy your water and soft drinks there rather than at a eatery. Overall I would recommend, but avoid using their internet. 5

  • We were very happy with our room, however we were never informed that we needed to give a credit card or $500 deposit upon check-in. We didn't have a credit card so luckily we had the deposit, however it ruined our plans for going out as we weren't prepared to be $500 down...Reception workers could have been friendlier - our parking ticket was flicked to us over the desk. 5

  • We enjoyed our stay very much. The reception staff were friendly and competent and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a child under 2 years in our party and were pleased that the rooms were spacious enough for the cot and quiet enough for sleeping patterns, etc. It was a great place to stay, being central and within walking distance of all we wanted to do and see. I would definitely recommend it to anyone and would stay there again. 5

Thanks to the hotel for the $5 chip vochure we recieved on check in we won back the cost of our accommodation!! :O) the only thing about the room was that the edge panel on the bathroom door was coming off. didn't affect use of the door but not to posh. The only complaint i would have is that the cost of self-parking and valet parking are not stated on the travel bug page and should be - so that there are no hidden costs. apart from that, great stay, had fun :O) this was our second stay, and will probably come back in the future. 5

  • Had a great time at Sky City. Had a problem getting our breakfast on the first morning as the Fortuna Restaurant was under renovations, had to go to another restaurant, which was fully booked. Was not very happy. Decided the next day to have room service!! Excellent, they should have told us when we booked in that the restaurant was under renovations, would have ordered room service both mornings. 5

  • Coffee stains on saucers did not go down well, room was like an oven when we arrived 28 degrees I would have thought someone could have checked the air conditioning controls when cleaning the room, other than that the rest of the room was spotless ,our stay very pleasant ,food excellent,reception good ,and our winnings paid it all .some consideration to the elderly re room location would help a great deal ,the walk from the lift down those "to us" 5 mile corridoors was utterly exhausting regads colin 5

  • We had a nice time at Sky City for the night, then across the road to the Grand for the second night up in Akld, it was great there...Sky City upgraded us, as did the Grand. Sky City was ok, we got the same room we had when we were up for the U2 Concert, but the toilet was still on a kind of lean??!! and one blind was broken, main sink in the bathroom was blocked as well. The strawberry choc platter was not that great....the fruit was a bit bruised or mushy...the vino on arrival was okayyy could have been nicer tasting :) But the Grand was awesome! They upgraded us there and we really enjoyed our room and the facilities. The breakfast buffet was fabulous! 5

Was kept waiting in lobby bar for an hour for this to be cleaned which was disappointing until 6pm but was given free drinks and when room was ready was sent a food platter to the room for the inconvienience so great customer service and awareness of wait. Room had blue night lights on all light switches and power points which were too bright during the night.
