  • Great value for money. We loved this spacious and stylish accomodation. Caretakers very friendly. Township is pretty quiet, with not much to see/do but this is a great base for fishing, skiiing etc in wider area. 5

  • Would recommend st davids. Big place, comfortable and warm, didn't need any heating, well provided with equipment. Neighbourhood was very quiet; not at all dodgy. Good range of shops/takeaways. Stayed to walk the tongariro crossing, found it was near enough to get to the car park before 7.00. Communication good and les and jenny welcoming. Only negative was that it could do with a dust; but the positives far outweigh this, and would use again, as really good value for money. 5

  • Had a great time here house (removated church) is great with lots of quirky features. Great for three couples on a weekend away as 3 queen bedrooms all with their own en-suites. Only negative comment was could do with the cobwebs cleaned up as if you have an aversion to spiders you may feel uncomfortable. Also bbq was not very clean but that could have been previous occupants - a shame as the outside space was great. Despite being in the middle of lots of housing neighbours were quiet and friendly would recommend this to anyone. 5

  • Absolutely loved stdavids - great location for our day trips, the river at the end of the street was a real treat. Everything imaginable was provided. And loved the art and the spacious library. Found it hard to leave the fabulous living and dinning room though. Thank you stdavids - we will be back and so will our family & friends. 5

  • I enjoyed my 30th birthday with my family at st david's. Les and jenny are amazing people, very friendly and able to give you advice on the area. The converted church that is st david's is stunning, the decor fits in well, to give a very homely feel. I will definitely be going back there. Thumbs are both definitely up!. 5

  • Absolutely awesome stay here. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for accommodation in Taumaranui. Very modern, warm and cosy. Excellent affordable stay. The only thing thing that was a little surprising on arrival was that it was a old church that had been renovated, the advertisement didn't mention this. However the couple that met us on arrival were lovely. Would definitely stay here again! 5

  • We shared St. Davids with friends for one week. Very spacious home, the fireplace was lovely and we enjoyed many cosy evenings together. Howeverr, I feel the fridge could have been bigger to cater for the maximum people. Also there is abosolutely no hanging space for clothes which I find quite strange. Jenny and Les were very obliging, although I didnt meet with them personally. Julie, South Australia 5

  • We had a great time! The house was very special and had such a good atmosphere. Everything was great and well thought out. The fire place was stacked with wood ...ready to light. Enough wood, hot water, great plunger coffee and lovely caretakers who even jumpstarted our car (arriving 10 minutes after us texting them!!). We shall return! :) 5

  • Stayed at St Davids with friends over Easter and have been recommending it to everyone I know. This is a great place to stay - lovely surrounding countryside, close to National Park, stylish, comfortable, stocked with good books, games and plenty of firewood. Could have done with some extra blankets on the colder nights but otherwise excellent. Jenny and Les were very welcoming. 5

  • Jenny and Les were there to greet us the evening we arrived and had the fire going. This was a wonderful place to stay with for my daughter's wedding. The atomosphere was fantastic. The large living area suited us as we were able to spread out as a group. I have recommended the lodge to many of the locals as a place to stay for their visitors. Would definately stay again. Thanks 5

  • St Davids has left us with mixed feelings. Initially on arrival we were uncertain as to where it was on Reu Str & to our surprise was a church converted into lodge style accom. Atmosphere inside was lovely, beautifully decorated & lots of effort has gone into decor. What put us off was the area the lodge was based in, but I guess this may be reflected in the price u are paying & after all it is in Taumarunui so suppose this is to be expected. If this doesn't bother you it can be a good, cost effective stop as a base for skiing - especially as a group. The drive to the ski area is around 45 minutes to be exact. Stayed in ruapehu suite - spacious and good decor, but with street noise at night so I'd imagine Tongariro to be worse as its right in front of the lodge, yet more private in terms of sharing. Whanganui at back of house may be better to eliminate street noise. Les & Jenny were very accomodating. This was our experience, but think think it all depends on what you want out of it 5
