  • My family & i stayed here 1 night & we all enjoyed it. The highlights for us were the swimming pool which was a nice temperature for us & our young kids to play/practice swimming. Breakfast was especially a hit for our son. Nice clean & tidy room, very friendly & helpful staff. Easy walking distance into town & pleasant nature walk round the lake. . 5

  • This is my third stay in sudima with my wife and three kids. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast with lots of food to choose from. The spa pool is much more clean than before now which is a bonus adding to our stay.. 5

  • We were a couple staying 2 nights through the treat me deal. The room was a little tired and dated but we had 2 king beds in our room which which we used one to sleep in and the other was handy to throw stuff on. The bed was comfortable and our room was not too nosiy and luckily we were not situated near the contiki groups. The buffet breakfast included in the deal was fantastic with lots of variety and the free wifi was convenient. Only negative was the shower occasionally went hot and cold. For what we paid for it was a great deal! nb: the room doesn't have aircon so i would imagine it would be quite hot in the summer. 5

  • We stayed at hotel for 1 night on 9 nov through a treatme deal. The room wasn't anything fancy but comfortable and reasonable for what i paid, only bummer was not many tv channels to choose from and only 1 sky channel. The fully cooked breakfast the next morning was tasty with a good variety of food and freshly cooked. Staff were very helpful and friendly. 5

  • Mainly central to all the amenities for those who want to enjoy the richness of all that rotorua has to offer. Very friendly & professional staff...a credit to the saudima hotels. Nice variety and selection of cuisine in their buffet dinner and breakfast options. Room 623 was very comfortable, spacious and modern. My only moan would be the placement - i felt it was a bit of a walk to get to their reception, restaurants, and thermal pools/spa. Otherwise, i would recommended saudima for families, couples, corporates' and the romantic time out. Suitable for families and our kids really enjoyed it! wish we could have stayed longer!. 5

  • Great location handy to lake, Old Spa Retreat Museum , town centre parklands etc all and easy walk. Clean facilities and off road out the back parking alongside tour buses - some of which will be moving off early morning and may disturb you in doing so depending on your room location. Bathrooms and facilities as bit dated but service and restaurant worth recomending to others. Helpful staff, well stocked souvineer shop and excellent spa pool incl private facilities. 5

  • We had a lovely time at the Sudima.Everyone was really friendly and helpful.The breakfast was a bit hectic,as everyone turned up at the same time,but the lady was very nice,and asked if we could come back in 1/2 an hour,which was no problem.It was worth it,as they had everything you could want,and as much as you could eat.The rooms had everything,and were lovely and clean.Thankyou so much. 5

  • Save your money and stay somewhere else. Friendly staff but hotel rooms are dated and very tired. Booked a superior room and had to go and check at reception that I had been given the right key. Room was cramped with two queen beds and a couple of chairs crammed into a small space. Room was apparently an updated room which makes me wonder how bad the rooms are that have not been updated. There was some kind of fungus/mould living under the toilet cistern and under the soap dish for the shower.We had a great view of the back of someone elses room and greatly enjoyed the sound of people running up and down our corridor all night!!! The reception area looks tidy but the rest is just struggling to keep up. Breakfast was average [AT BEST]and felt like we were in a motorway cafe, the only real difference being that I would have gotten a hot cup of coffee at the motorway cafe.This has gone straight onto my 'Never stay again' list. 5

  • We've stayed at the Sudima & it's previous identity Lake Plaza many times. We've always enjoyed our stays, we've never had any issues, the staff are friendly & helpful & the rooms nice & clean. We look forward to the rennovated dining room; the temporary dining room was basic & featureless which may have detracted from our stay if we hadn't enjoyed the lake view from the dining room on previous stays & can look forward to seeing it again in the future. The pool & spa are lovely. The central location means we park up the car & walk everywhere & make use of all the local services. We've always recommended the Sudima & will continue to to do so. 5

  • Very friendly staff and most helpful in changing our rooms to other ones closer to the pool/lounge area as was more suitable for our family. We got a good deal on treatme which included chocolates and wine and breakfast. They even set up a portacot at no extra charge. Our rooms (although old) were tastefully decorated.   • Very helpful and accomodating staff. Faultless service. Only complaint was that although our room was about three tiers back from the lake and main foyer, our room during the night smelt very strongly of sulphur which didn't improve any when we opened the windows to air it out giving us both a restless sleep and headaches in the morning. Haven't come across that staying in Rotorua previously at other motels near the water front. Barr that, a good weekend. 5

  • Pleasantly surprise by how easy it was to check-in. Really comfy room, quite basic - but exactly what we needed. Facilities were great, loved the spa - especially with it being a cooler nigth & being private as well. Great to see lots of families around & not even being able to hear them from your room. Went to dinner at another Hotel & did not enjoy it. Fortunately Sudima's breakfast selection was awesome. Was a bit over crowded, but glad they made us as comfortable as possible. Only little suggestion I have is for them to have better parking available. 5

We did however get all the extras that were part of the deal. We have stayed there twice so will probably try another hotel next time. 5

There was a lack of communication between what treatme had offered and what the Hotel knew about once shown email of waht was promised staff were happy to sort.   • Annoyed when we arrived at the motel as they had not received any booking for us. The deal included some extras which were not there and they had to find us the two rooms together we had previously requested. Turned out they were not ready either as we wanted one room for three people. In the end they moved us to much bigger rooms. The rest of the stay was fine and all staff were very helpful and courteous. Not too impressed with the standard of the breakfast though. 5

  • Very nice Hotel but the deal that I bought from Treat Me stated that the room was normally $209/ night, which we got for $119 when I looked on their websight it was selling for $129/ night. the room was the farthest away from everywhere in the complex & in the oldest part with no view and a dated bathroom. For a room supposedly worth $209 I would have definitely expected more. Also we arrived at 10 mins to 2pm and were told that check in was 2pm so we could wait in the lounge where they forgot about us because of a shift change. Overall, a nice Hotel for the discount price but not worth $209 5

  • Great staff, great meals in restaurant...room was so so...clean, a bit of a leak in the toilet & the soap dish in the shower was rusty... one bath towel had a hole in it...when they serviced our room, they didn't bother to change it although we left it hanging in plain view. Lakeside location, but my request (on booking room one month prior to stay) for lakeview room with balcony for my husbands birthday was not granted...no elevator, so dragging bags up & down stairs...no reserved car parking, so lucky dip if you get a park when you come back late... Is a good location for walking to town & around lake, but think we will try a different hotel next time 5

  • CCC Nice room clean and tidy.They could not give us lake view as requested but they said they will give us a beter room which they did. Only issue was about the deposit mechanism which they took $50 each X 2 rooms but was refunded when we checked out which is fine.   • There was some confusion for us between what this website offered and what we thought was being offered from previous stays at the Sudima Rotorua. I called Reservations to check if this offer was the same as previous ones advertised by the hotel itself through radio stations, which our family thoroughly enjoyed. Reservations confirmed that it was, but when we got there, our expectations were dampened somewhat when we were given a room which slept 2. In previous offers, the rooms accommodated 2 adults and 2 children. So on this occassion, our kids were left without accommodation. Eventually, they did find us a room which slept four, but was small and cramped. It would have helped if we had greater clarity about what we were buying into. 1

  • A bit of a mix up with the room we first got, but that was corrected fairly quickly by a lovely young gentleman by the name of Ryan. He was very sincere with his apology and we were happy with our room. The room was neat and tidy and the bathroom clean - excellent!!! Breakfast was great, so many varieties to choose from and well worth the money spent. A great experience and will definetly return in the future. 5

  • On arriving at 1pm, i found my room had not get been cleaned. i found this totally unacceptable ,considering 10am is checkout time.however, the room was clean and nicely presented. not recommended for honeymooners, walls paper thin, you could hear the conversation ,next door. staff were pleasant. 5

  • Busy reception and trainee very slow. My advice is read any deals very closely as they can be misleading! Room clean but tired and did give a room with balcony when requested. Staff adept at dealing with disagreements and did appreciate later check out time. Just disappointed when expectations were not met. 1

  • I noted the mixed reviews posted here but we had a good stay here; certainly good value for the money ($99). There were delays at check in, which was annoying given we arrived late and were tired, but the staff were very nice even if the processes weren't at all efficient. Providing secure storage for my mountain bike was no trouble. We had free access to geothermal private spa pools, which was lovely. We chose a superior room which had been very nicely refurbished. It was very clean (and the cleaning staff were nice, I liked being greeted with a cheery 'good morning' as we passed them in the hall). We stayed on a Sunday night in March and it didn't seem busy. Our room anyway was very quiet, the bed was comfy, the room had a/c and we had all we needed for a quick overnight stop. 5

  • Absolutely right next door to Polynesian Spa and the lake. I walked across the road to Polynesian Spa in bare feet and togs. Plenty of car parking available. Service excellent - I asked to see our booked room and a refurbished room. The refurbished room was $10 extra to upgrade from the one which we had already booked. Friendly hotel staff member gladly showed us both rooms. Decor is nice. Room was very clean. Rooms are not too soundproof - I could hear a child screaming in the corridor outside the room. The room safe was very handy and accessible. Shower spray was weak and unsatisfying - we were unlucky. Should have perhaps taken a bath instead. Did not try the hotel restaurant. Whatever you do, do NOT go to Breaker's Restaurant (unless you want a horrible meal). The food was heavily overpriced and worse than home cooking. 5

  • Not a happy arrival at all. Arrived around 2:30pm. Had to wait at reception for about 10 min before being attended to. Receptionist chewing gum when she talks to guests. When attended to was informed that the room was not ready. Was told to wait until 3:00 pm. Was not called when it was ready but had to go and asked again. Kids were banging on the piano in reception area. When you are tired and frustrated that is a most annoying experience. TV was not working when switched on. Cleaning lady called the technicians to fix it. Not a situation to recommend at all. 1

  • The beds and bathroom were lovely and there was hardly any noise from neighbouring rooms. We were disappointed that the Spa wasn't very hot and had a lot of 'flakes' and insects floating in it. Also the shower was quite weak and would suddenly become scorching hot which would be dangerous for a child. It would have been nice to have an option of a thinner pillow. Another thing we noticed is that we could not get the TV to work and asked for someone to help us out with this - we were told a porter would be up and no one ever came (we didn't pursue it because we decided not to watch tele in the end). The staff were friendly although i was concerned that they could not help me with a possible change to my booking when the Travelbug website specifically says that the 'Operator' should be contacted for any cancellation / change to the booking 1

  • I think the Sudima Hotel is tremendous value and it's location next to the lake and walking distance to the Government Gardens and Centre city makes it so convenient. The staff I have had dealings with during the 3 or 4 times my family had stayed have always been cheerful and willing to assist us. Waking to the sun rising over Sulphur Point viewed from our room is a cherished memory. 5

  • For the very affordable economy price, the service compensated the 'very basic' facilities. All amenities were promoted via the helpful woman at the desk. She was as accommodating of my additional requests as the hotel could deliver on. Staff involved in other chores were equally as helpful. I'd consider the overall rating in terms of customer service as 'exceeding', given that the time I stayed was a full-house (marathon weekend). 5

  • We had a very pleasent and happy stay. While we where in the older block of the hotel, it had been refurbished and was very neat and tidy. The bed was large and comfortable and the room and bathroom were very clean. The staff were friendly - we were on motorbikes and they offered to lock them in the maintainence shed for us. I was impressed with the giftshop - the items were well priced and handy when you forget stuff! Although it was within walking distance of town and the supermarkets so easy to get to where you need to go. Overall i was very happy - having stayed in a number of hotels over the years, this one rates as nice, meets all the needs and would stay again. 5

  • We were placed in the furthest room away from the lobby, there is no lift and my mom could not walk very well. There was no central air which made the room unbearable. When we checked out they charged my mom's credit card after I had already paid for the room through the website. An ice bucket was ordered and did not come. We had to leave the room. When we returned a key had been left in the door be the person who delivered the ice bucket in our absence. All of our belongings could have been stolen. A stay at faulty towers would have been better. 1

  • The girl on reception was very helpful, we were disappointed with the room allocated, it was quite dark and oppressive and the people in the room next door had their door open and the television on extremely loud. We asked to be moved to a different room and they found us another room which was much better. Considering we had booked over a month before I think we could have had a better choice of room in the first place. 1

  • As it was very hot and humid when we were there, we did expect air conditioning in such a large complex and were surprised to find none. Also as I was informed that the rooms we had were only recently upgraded I was surprised that no lift was available and suggest that this is something which guests need to be informed of when booking. Reception staff on booking in were very matter of fact and not friendly, very limited amount of travel /tourist information available from the complex; but the "i centre" was very helpful. 4
