  • Our terrace villa was lovely to stay in.we took our own breakfast things and had a great dinner in the restaurant - tried the thar and the hare - both delicious and staff service was helpful and attentive until we had ordered, however they did not come back to refill our water classes (i would have liked a carafe on the table if they could not check us regulary) the salad bar and dessert buffet were pathetic. The daughters and i had a hilarious "spa" in the bath with our togs on - i agree with other reviews that a proper hot tub would be great - we had taken our togs expecting one to be there. (a pity the boys couldn't fit in as well!!) the golf was average considering the frozen conditions but enjoyable all the same. Would go back again but for a longer stay as one night was a bit rushed. But i do recommend to ring and check to see what was available before you arrive as it's a long way to find food if a wedding takes priority over other guests and i was disappointed that the archery was unavailable and us girls had nothing to do at the resort while the golfers played - so we went for a trip out to mt sunday (awesome views!). 5

  • Absolutely lovely place to stay but there was a wedding & we were not informed that the whole place was booked out - so therefore couldn't eat there! also could not check in til 4.30 as villa not ready & we arrived @ 3pm - got told to go to the kirwee pub to wait! miles away so we waited outside in the freezing cold drinking our own wine - not anything from terrace downs except sorry! probably won't go back v poor customer service - the wedding took all priority & we felt like we were just a nuisance!!! by the way they had emailed me to remind me about my booking a week prior with absolutely no mention of the fact that we would not be able to eat there & food elsewhere is miles away - poor poor organisation form thier end. . 1

  • The venue is awesome, acommodation is great - always very clean, beds very comfortable for us, feather pillows etc, and if you take some simple food to this fully appointed kitchen and just dine in the comfort of your own awesome apartment with the view,spa bath etc..you will not be disappointed. On the rare occasions we've had to rely on the service wev'e had some hilariously entertaining experiences this time in Tilleys but this time they compensated us heavily and we felt they're learning who its about....there seems to be a staff training / satisfaction issue. Avoca Fine Dining has been replaced by a steak house, although pricey had wild Thar (delicious)and Hare on the menu.. our waitress was lovely, the salad bar was sadly lacking and boring with 3 options. We absolutely love the aprtments but still wary of the service in other areas. 5

  • Terrace Downs is just idyllic, what ever time of year you go :) The horse riding was fantastic, something my littlies could do (not alot there for kids otherwise). I feel it could benefit from a pool and hot spa looking out on the mountains. The food from the restaurant was great. Good service but internet was down when we stayed. From prev stays there, it is usually up and running no problem. Can't recommend it enough :) 5

  • Fantastic accomodation, the villas are awesome. We were looking forward to trying the new grill pizza bar and was disappointed the grill was not open, it had major cracks through the pizza oven, doesnt look like there is any hurry to fix it. Having stayed before we took our own food as the other restaurants are pretty disappointing, average food that is overpriced and confused. 5

  • Positives Great environment, nice rooms, great golf course, good food, friendly staff. Negatives Staff competency - 3 separate interactions (of a total of 6) were poor, 1 at reception on arrival (was disorganised and forgot to make restaurant booking, she had asked if she could make it for us), 2 at the bar (drinks orders had to be repeatedly followed up on). All in all a very nice stay but would not go back with an expectation of great service. 5

  • We had an absolutely awesome time at Terrace Downs. The Treat Me Special was fantastic value. The four of us had many laughs on the golf course, an excellent meal at the Avoca restaurant - fire roaring it was lovely!!! Brekkie was good too. Will definitely be back. It was a relaxing break from ChCh - just what the doctor ordered!!! Thank you to all the staff for making us feel so welcome and comfortable. 5

  • First timers at Terrace Downs. Birthday golf treat for my husband. Great price package through Treat Me Daily Deal. Stayed one night. Great accommodation very clean & spacious. Restaurant was very busy. Stayed to watch The Rugby on big screen in the bar. Was asked to move because the stools were reserved ! We didn't!! we weren't eating so felt the stools were for drinking on. Waitress didn't argue. Breakfast good but did run out, could have been hotter.Needed more seats outside and more staff in kitchen and bar service was poor. But all in all a lovely weekend . The grounds are great and his golf score was good too! 5

  • Always good when we go to Terrace Downs. I would warn others that they should ask if either of the restaurants are booked for private functions for the nights you are staying. It's a long way to go and find out you needed to bring food for dinner - not good communication from Terrace Downs staff given that I had rung them twice in the two weeks leading up to the day. 5

  • Had a fantastic time at Terrace Downs last weekend. We shared a 3 bedroom villa with 2 other couples and it was warm,comfortable and spacious. Beautiful food was had at both "Avoca" and "Tilleys" restaurants and was great to see Ireland take Australia out in that game of the RWC on the big screen at the end of the night.Recommend the "Washpen Falls" walk up the road a bit. We also did another good walk down to the river which went down from the end of the rugby field.All in all, a great place to stay. PS: Juanita- thank you for the lovely service you gave us in the restaurant.They are lucky to have you there- so friendly and helpful. Jude Granger- September 2011. 5

  • We longed to stay at TD. With treat me a group of -4- with different intersts grabbed the oppotunity and enjoyed the stay. Having said that if it wasnt for treat me prices we would have felt quite cheated. Ahh the meals where 5 star prices with 3 star results. Havind said that the staff were fantastic and were so motivated and really cool . We want to visit again and will e=when a treatme dael comes up. No way for a 350 night per couple. 5

  • 3 Bedroom Villa was excellent. Double spa in the master ensuite was the icing on the cake. Amazing views. Golf course was great as always. Breakfast a tad mediocre for such a high end resort. Room service is available but no menu is supplied in the room for some reason? No Sky Movies, but almost every other channel which was odd. Overall great place, will definately return! 5

  • Hi, We enjoyed our stay immensely, however, it was marred slightly by the appalling service in the restaurant in the two evenings. On the first night we had a meal in "Tilley's Bar and Restaurant" and had to wait for over 30minutes after eating our main course for someone to offer us the menu for deserts. Three of us knew what we wanted but when we were given the desert menu it had changed from the one we picked our mains from. Not really a problem but the twenty minute wait for the desert to arrive was a bit disapointing. The next evening we dined in the "Avoca Restauraunt" which we were really looking forward to as it was advertised as Fine Dining and from the advert "Avoca Fine Dining The Resort's Signature Restaurant, known for a range of delectable entrees, mains and desserts and a service level to satisfy even the most discerning guest." We had booked this the previous week and all brought our best clothes for the evening. We were mightily disappointed again. Fine dining it definitely was not. We asked what the dress code was and were told "Smart". To arrive there and be met with a very noisy restaurant with children running around and guests dressed in jeans and tee shirts immediately let us down. We were out of place and felt we were in a "HoonHay 88 family buffet style restaurant" instead of what we were led to believe. The food, however, was fantastic and could not be faulted. What could be faulted thought was yet to come. After finishing our main course we waited for 45minutes before my partner finally went up to one of the three staff to ask for the desert menus. It couldn't possibly be as bad as the night before but after ordering twenty minutes later we had another 40minutes to wait for the deserts. This only arrived after I again went up and complained about how much longer we had to wait.....it immediately came out then !!! So in summery, the stay was relaxing and fun. The golf was great but the service was abysmal.....sorry to say. Kind regards Eddie King 5
