The owners made us feel very welcome however the room was very very dated - possibly a memorial of the 1970s? in fact the floor covering reminded me of similar my mum had when i was a kid. All the fixtures and fittings are old and very tired. Windows could do with a clean. I would also suggest the "close the door quietly" sign is a bit juvenile.

well what can we say micheal martin you just couldnt come and see us yet you snipe at us from afar just like kevin did ,we are proud of our motel did you sleep well ? on those brand new beds in that unit ,did you enjoy the unlimited free wifi saturday and sunday of labour weekend did you enjoy watching the all blacks on your 32inch colour tv and all the other sport , we have chosen to spend our money on what we would like at a motel, a great bed is a must, free wifi 32inch tvs with sky a well appointed kitchen ,clean linen complementry tea coffee milk sugar etc etc we cater for a wide range of traveler and have invested heavily in our down stairs rooms and have just completed our first one upstairs unit 7 we are finding guest are staying here for multiple days enjoying our facilities ,and our location they unpack and relax and do day trips exploring the coromandle pininsula feed back is okay but it needs to be balanced . the team avalon motel thames

Stayed 4 nights very comparable to Aussie Motel, clean and close to everything, helpful staff, would stay again.

Very tired all round. Reception area was not welcoming. No radio/alarm. No Ironing facility. No offer of a daily paper. No bed made during service. A sign made it clear that dishes would not be washed during service. Other signs demanded "do not wear footware (sic) inside", "close the door quietly" - this is back-packer stuff and not acceptable at a Motel charging a larger tariff. TV channels all askew. Towels hardly dried oneself. Sheets, whilst clean, were like the room - tired. Stainless areas i.e bench and shower base were spotless. Gentleman owner tried hard to oblige when the TV was not up to scratch but all in all the unit not deserving of a $125 Tariff. I would not return.

we at the avalon motel are sorry that the motel did not meet your expectation it is a pity that sometime in your 3day 2nite stay u didnt approach us however lets look at you concerns on a 1x1 basis the radio/alarm clock was in the draw although most of our rooms do have an iron and ironing board if your room didnt there is always one in the guest laundry we do have signs that say please remove foot ware thank you but they are only on the big family units not on the smaller studio units so there was not one on your door and please close doors quietly thank you it is just a curtious reminder for late arrivals that others may be asleep unfortunately i havent got room to cover all aspects but find your comments ruther mischievous as by far our greatest occupancy is been before we strive every day to ensure our guest have a great stay and most do check out our guest comments on our website you just cannot please all of the people all of the time .

Booking the motel was easy to use and there were no issues with either the booking or stay at the hotel. what I booked is what I got.

I think the price i paid was way to much. The whole room was so dated(retro). Glad it didnt smell.

so Hermione you checked out our website and saw we had refurbished the ground floor units but you still choose an upstairs unit you were THREE people and the cost was $120 that included FREE tea,coffee,milk,sugar ,sky tv wireless internet a queen bed a single bed a hot shower and toilet towels microwave hot plates fridge table and chairs ,an iron a heater, and all spotlessly clean.Im not sure what u expect for $40 but am glad any smell went with you .
