  • We stayed just the one night while down in taupo for a half marathon event. Loved our stay at suncourt - very friendly lady on the front desk, clean and tidy unit and well looked after. Awesome view of the mountains in the national park from our window on the balcony. 5

  • Stayed 2 nights in upstairs unit overlooking the beautiful Lake. Friendly staff, very clean, spacious units with tea/coffee facilities. A 2min walk away to other restaurants if required. An outdoor 'putt-putt' right across the road from the hotel. No complaints, an excellent choice would recommend. Graham from SA 5

  • We stayed for 2 nights from 3-5 Feb 2012 in a downstairs double unit at the front block. We received fabulous check in-out service at reception. Clean units presented with tasteful modern decor & lovely views of the lake. I would not choose to stay in a bottom unit again ie premium lake views upstairs. Also the upstairs units had outdoor balcony furniture but everytime someone dragged their chair the noise from our ceiling was a loud. We could also hear footsteps thumping around our ceiling when trying to sleep/rest. Also the neighbours to our left were roudy drunks who didn't turn their loud music off until around 10pm on the 2nd night. Obviously guest behaviour is out of Hotel's control, but we had to share the same balcony as the roudy drunks so we chose to close our blinds for privacy & the downside is we couldn't enjoy balcony privacy & lake views from our unit. We ate twice at the mousetrap restaurant. Day one was excellent because there were few people, but day two another matter and the staff didn't cope with high volume. I blame the lady in charge of the bookings/seating plan I found her bordering on rude and she lacked customer service & was unable to coordinate, tables, orders & waitressing staff. She also dedicated all the waitressing staff to the restaurant and the bar area was ignored even though there were lots of people eating throughout. On a positive note the "barman and english girl at the bar were professional & friendly with world-class service". My experience overall was good. Just a shame I had the worst guests to share accommodation with for my stay. 5

  • We were booked in at the Suncourt for 1 night. Spoiling ourselves for a quick break in Taupo before the new school year begun as we had not had a chance to get away till now. The welcome at the front desk was warm and genuinely friendly :) The room was clean and tidy, basic but more than adequate :) After a busy day exploring Taupo we thought we would again spoil ourselves and dine at the hotel's reatuarant Mousetrap. BAD CALL!!! We have renamed it MouseCRAP! in our family and have warned friends. We ordered battered fish x 3 with garlic bread to start. 45mins and garlic bread arrived followed straight away with panfried fish x 1!!!! Waiter stated that was what our order was...like 3 of us would share 1 meal...HELLOOO?? An apology was forthcoming and told our meals were now priority. Another 45mins and our 3 meals arrived, for $27 each I could have gotten fish and chips at local takeway for half the price for all of us Whilst we were silly enough to sit and wait another 2 couples left giving up on their ordered meals to arrive.:( :( :( Just not good enough 1

  • Dear Michelle, Thank you for taking the time to place feedback about your recent visit to Taupo. Obviously as the Manager of the Hotel and Restaurant I am extremely disappointed to read of your experience and do personally apologise. There are no excuses for the service you received, it should not have happened. I would like to assure you that this has been addressed and a new Restuarant Manager appointed. Kind Regards Andrew Milne - General Manager

  • When making a booking I requested a downstairs unit with road/lake view. Instead we were put into an upstairs unit out the back with no views. Apart from that, unit was clean and tidy. Did not leave me that inthused and would try another hotel/motel next time. 1
