Sportsmans Lodge is nestled on the banks of the world famous Tongariro River. Guests describe this as an amazing "real" lodge with its large shared, fully equiped kitchen, lounge/games room, sun deck and BBQ area and beautiful gardens. The Lodge has nine double units all with own ensuites and a self contained garden cottage. It is inexpensive, quiet and has a unique character all of its own. Experience the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of Sportsmans Lodge during your travels and you won't be disappointed.

Good little spot. Shared kitchen with your own cockery, mugs, and cutlery was nice.

A great place to relax in tranquil setting surrounded by trees and greenery. We enjoyed sitting in the beautiful garden, and also stting with refreshments on the sun-deck. Our en-suite double room was comfortable but very small, and quite dark with surrounding trees, but in the evening we were able to relax in the spacious lounge where we played snooker/pool and watched TV. The kitchen/dining area is also large and well-equipped. The town centre shops and supermarket are about 10 mins walk away, but it seems longer carrying heavy groceries (I should have taken the car!). The Tongariro River can be reached on a path directly from the lodge, just a couple of minutes stroll away. We did a circular riverside walk which took about an hour.
