Located just three minutes walk from the Turangi town centre and the Tongariro River, Settlers Motel offers quiet, affordable accommodation in a park-like setting.
Our clean and comfortable units are fully self-contained and each has a covered outdoor seating area. The individual cottage style units have a personal and private feel.
Our accommodation offers five studio units (sleeping 1-3) and three family units (sleeping 2-7). All our units have 26" or 32" flat-screen TV and DVD players. We have SKY GUEST SELECT with 50+ channels for you entertainment. We also have a selection of 100+ DVD's available free of charge.
Situated close to the Tongariro National Park, Tongariro Alpine Crossing, fabulous trout fishing rivers, excellent ski fields and Lake Taupo, Settlers Motel Turangi is all about location and great memories.
Settlers Motel has ZENBU Wireless Internet available to all units. Each unit has a telephone from which local, national and international calls can be made. Fax and copy facilities are available at the reception.

Too many rules/policies that were over-explained and sign-posted everywhere. Charged for a baby even though we could've used our own porta-cot (policy wasn't shown when booking through travel bug -ironic considering last statement). Very small hot-water cylinder for 7 people ("not continuous hot-water" sign doesn't make up for it). I don't think that i have high expectations; i stay in different motels every week for work and know what's reasonable.

Thank you for your review Daniel. We are sorry your stay with us did not meet your expectations. Our advisory signs are intended to inform guests (a large number are overseas visitors) and help them enjoy their stay without having to continually wonder what to do perhaps in an emergency; if evacuation is required; when the town fire siren sounds; if they need to use the phone; are not sure where they can smoke etc. Our policy is what supports our business and we like to take the time inform our guests some of the more relevant ones, this process would normally take 30 seconds as part of the check-in process before the guests signs the check-in form and ensures that the guest is aware of what is being signed. We make no apology for this process or signage we have in our units. Some guests have assumed that we have endless hot water; this is not the case. The Chalet style of our buildings means that each unit has its own hot water cylinder and occasionally (as at home) the water will cool more quickly than desired. To inform larger groups of guests we make them aware of this situation and a small notice to this effect is fixed to the wall adjacent to the shower. This then helps guests to manage the hot water usage. Your assumption that your infant and two adult extra guests would be covered by your original booking was both naive and disappointing. The commodity we sell is “guest nights” and adults, children & babies are guests! We would expect a potential guest to contact us if there were doubts about what was included in the total tariff. Similarly we would expect guests to check with us before arriving if there are extra guests than the number booked. On Travelbug no mention is made that infants are “free” or extra guests are included in the tariff. Wayne & Helen Smith.

ONLY THERE 2 SLEEP AS HAD ALREADY EATEN & UP EARLY 4 BIKE RIDE & HAD OUR OWN BREAKY SO UNABLE 2 USE FACILITIES BUT ALL GOOD & CLEAN. HANDY 2 TOWN.
