We had an interesting, quirky and comfortable 4 night stay at the retreat. If you're planning a self catering stay - come very well equipped as what is there is very limited and the accommodation is really geared to bed and breakfasting at the homestead. It was a pleasure to have you stay in the "Hobbit House". Just a comment about self-catering ... the houses are totally self-contained, with full kitchens & all pots, pans, china & cutlery provided. We do provide basic supplies (tea, coffee, sugar, toilet paper, milk, soap, shampoo, conditioner etc) but only for the first couple of days, after that it is up to the renter to provide their own supplies. This is common practice world-wide I've found - in fact, better than many places, as the beds are all made up & plenty of towels provided. Our bed and breakfast facility is mainly inhouse, though we are happy to provide all meals on request. We look forward to seeing you again - maybe to join us for a meal, not just pre-dinner drinks!Mairenui Rural Retreat
