The Hokianga harbour remains a relatively untouched land of contrasts, from lush kauri forests, sunburnt sand dunes and calm harbour waters to surf breaks on the sandbar and its own subtropical microclimate - a haven with a special beauty and spirit of its own.
The Copthorne hotel is in Omapere, by the water's edge, with a stunning view to huge sand dunes across the bay. It's the perfect place to discover the area's rich history & beauty. 3 hours from Auckland, this is an amazing place for a business conference, or to experience a slice of Kiwi paradise.
The elegant homestead has the charm and grandeur of yesteryear, with 36 units in total. It has a swimming pool, on-site restaurant and conference rooms. Our gardens front on to a golden beach with safe swimming, fishing from the wharf and a boat ramp. There are lovely local walks, nice places to relax and we also offer night time tours of the Waipoua Forest and take bookings for harbour and fishing cruises.
The hotel is a popular wedding and meeting venue. Come and get away from it all and enjoy the lifestyle that is the Hokianga.

Location is great but i wouldn't suggest staying in the beach front twin rooms . We stayed in room 5 which on the web site claimed they had been refurbished. If they had it was a long time ago as tthe rooms were very sad with frayed carpet, bamboo holding a blind up, rip in the couch...couldn't read at night as the lighting was so poor. Great hotel and lovely room. There was a slight mix-up with our booking caused by an incorrect email address which was quickly sorted out by the hotel staff and Travelbug. We were given a new room slightly seperate from the main hotel complex which had an awesome view and was very quiet. Dinner was superb and breakfast was also great. We will definitely be back.

Great place to stay - although I wouldn't stay in the standard B&B King Studio - very standard indeed... although the hotel grounds, restaurant was amazing - food fantastic and staff friendly and cooperative. I would definitely only recommend staying in one of the beach-front rooms attached to the hotel/main complex, and give the cheaper rooms out the back and down the side a miss.

We had a most enjoyable stay, our room was very comfortable with an amazing view and the new winter menu, especially the watercress and horopito soup, was excellent. This property has the most amazing waterfront position and although not the most modern, is clean and comfortable, a great place to wind down from city life and enjoy the local cuisine and beautiful landscape. Nice staff and good service too.
