This was the most expensive of the accomodations we stayed in up north and the most disappointing. Rooms were large and the view good, though shrubs could do with a trim, but very dated in decor and minimal kitchen service. The stove was tiny and plates etc not matching. They had been shut up for a while as they were very musty when we walked in. Opononi was worth a visit and we had a lovely walk along the beach. 1Diane Watton - Jan 29, 2010 Travelbug verified review

When I arrived there was no one there in reception. After waiting several minutes someone arrived and signed me in. I was given a room right above the highway and had noisy traffic go past at all hours. The TV was fuzzy and only had TV1-3 and the rugby channel. The restaurant was closed for winter so I had to make do with takeaways from next door as there was no cooking facilities in the room. The pictures are very deceiving, its defiantly not a resort

You have raised some valid points and we would like to humbly apologise for the disappointing experience you had here at the Hotel. Our restaurant is available throughout the entire year so there are no excuses why this should have happened. We have two types of rooms which may have caused the confusion with the rooms you viewed on our website. This has since been rectified with pictures of both types of accommodation now available on our website. Please be assured we have had numerous meetings with all staff/management to make sure this does not happen again. Feedback whether it is postive or negative is hugely important to us and I assure you we do take it seriously

Arrived to find they had not got our booking - they blamed you. Very small but adequate room.Shower not very clean and I would have got wetter if I had stood outside in the rain. Insufficient parking - had to leave car out on road all night where there was people milling round outside spilling out of pub - seemed a bit risky. Came back to watch something important on TV to find it was not working. Loud music from the pub until the early hours then woken before 7.ooam next morning by more noise in the corridor ? who from. When we told the staff on reception the next morning our TV was not working we didn't even get a 'sorry'. Witnessed her tell the manager who didn't seem to pay any attention and immediately went out for a jog with his mate. Quite pricey under the circumsatnces.

Feedback good or bad is important and we do take this seriously. Mr & Mrs Norrie, we would like to apologise to you both for the disappointing experience you had here at the hotel. The issues you bought to our attention are not acceptable and certainly don't measure up to our normal standards. I have worked with hotel staff/management and sincerely hope this does not happen again. We do have live bands playing here on various occasions so we try our best to advise our guests of the details as soon as possible. We also try and allocate the best possible room to avoid the noise levels or give the client the option at least. Mr & Mrs Norrie, your are important to us and thank you for coming back to us with your concerns.

Extremely disappointed with the quality of the accomodation. Staff friendly but disorganised as stated in other comments. Our unit was not the same as represented on this website or their own website. Certainly was not the luxury accomodation as suggested and represented very poor value for the price. The TV only showed 3 channels and was poor reception, the bathroom had damaged doors and the cabinets and window sills had lifting paint. There was mould on the walls in the lounge. Finally music was loud enough to keep us awake until 1pm which was not very peaceful. However, we did enjoy our meal at the restaurant, so all was not lost.

Fantastic stay - I have to say that the young Manager of this hotel is an exceptional host, and went out of his way to ensure our stay was a happy and comfortable one. The other staff were also a pleasure - friendly smiles and genuine warmth. Very refreshing. Rooms good.

Great venue after a long day on the motorbike. Very nice people in hotel reception and enjoyed a great meal on the night of our stay with friends

Standing moyen, tres bruyant meme la nuit proximite d'un bar ouvert tres tard dommage vue magnifique sur la baie. chambre tres propre et assez bon restaurant
