  • We couldn't have asked for more efficient and friendly hosts. We enjoyed the comfortable ensuite units and made good use of the welcoming and well provisioned kitchen and shared living/lounging room. The covered outdoor eating area and barbecue was also a great communal space. Certainly night sky lodge exceeded our expectations. 5

  • Thanks Alan. Sorry we missed explaining about the musty scent in the guest lounge/kitchen building. We're actually quite proud of it! Our lodge is on the site of NZ's first commercial winery, started in the 1880's by a German immigrant, Heinrich Breidecker. We're told that the scent is likely from wine spilt over many years on the kauri floor boards of the building back when it was used as the winery. The site and Mr Breidecker are documented in Dick Scotts book, Pioneers of New Zealand Wine. Glad you enjoyed your stay. We enjoyed having you. Dimitri and Reena
