First problem was car parking, the advert I read about the hotel said there was a carpark. Sure there is if you want to pay $35 for valet parking,thats all that there is. We parked across the road in wilsons carpark for $18 overnight. Then the room had 2 single beds instead of a double. Back to reception. Had requested late checkout at booking time on net but this wasnt confirmed at check-in. So woke up at 10am scrambling to checkout in case we had to pay for another night. Tried to visit family staying in the tower block, need a map and pack lunch to get there. Then the rooms are numbered the same as the main block so ended up knocking on someones door twice because we got lost and ended up going around in one big circle. Room lacked blankets on the bed,only had sheets and no bedspread. Nothing in the cupboard. Thats enough I think,will stay elsewhere next time.

The hotel was wonderful - staff were friendly, helpful with advice for first time visitors to Auckland, the location perfect for us to find our way around. We had a terrific time and will certainly come back to visit not only Auckland but will take the time to visit other areas due to our first positive experieince!

Parking, we did not expect to have to pay $30 to park. We ended up parking on the street and having to move the car later. Poor service when checking in, had to find our own way to the room. We were not told what floor we were on and that the card we were given operates the lift. The room was difficult to find as they were oddly numbered. Had problems trying to find the lift to go back down to the lobby. However, the room was perfect and room service for breakfast was excellent. And we did enjoy the big breakfast.

Just one thing that did surprise us was the $30 for parking charge. We were not informed of this charge at time of check in. On querying this (afer payment unfortunately) the man at desk said that this is a standard charge in the city - we would not know that as we are not from the city (I told him this also). He told us to query it with the person we paid (long queue so could not wait). We could have parked free at our friends parking down the road had we been advised of the charge. People need to be informed of any extra charges on arrival. Apart from that the stay was great and service was excellent (except for the man at the desk about this query - not that helpful).
