This welcoming Bay of Islands hotel commands a superb waterfront location in the heart of the Bay of Islands, offering uninterrupted bay views surrounded by 60 acres of subtropical gardens as part of the historic Waitangi Treaty Grounds.
With 180 guest rooms, the hotel provides individual patio or balcony from which to enjoy the bay, estuary or garden views while the rooms offer a serene escape with designs inspired by nature. All rooms offer tea and coffee making facilities, mini bar, hairdryers, iron and ironing board, flat screen TV, Sky TV, wifi internet access, direct dial telephone, and radio.
Onsite facilities include restaurant and bar, tennis court, spectacular free form lagoon style swimming pool, mountain bike hire and courtesy shuttle to downtown Paihia. The Copthorne Hotel & Resort, Bay of Islands is a 4 Star Qualmark rated hotel.

We stayed 2 nights on a long weekend. Great location on the waterfront. A short drive or walk to town. The room and decor is dated and the place is not the cleanest. Dust on fans etc. We've stayed copthorne omapere and copthorne oriental bay. Those two are great. This is poor by comparison. Staying elsewhere in paihia would be a better bet. The breakfast on saturday was poor. The breakfast on sunday much better but not great. We did dessert on saturday night and the panacotta itself was good but it was surrounded by a sickly rich sauce. The creme brulee was rubbish and more like a custard that should never have been served. There are great food places in paihia, russell and kerikeri. We recommend eating out. Wharepuke at kerikeri, jimmiy jacks ribs, paihia or tuk tuk at russell are great. The staff were friendly. The hotel was great but 1 of the 3 vouchers i used was not book despite an email i receive as confirmation from travel bug. Also, was told that i should have called copthorne for 3rd person on each room. Dont know why when voucher clearly states up to 3 person. Finally, the manager was trying to charge me for the 3rd person when he should be aware of the promotion the hotel was running that children 12 and under are free. He was even lecturing me about such deals. I was just to tired for a lengthy discussion.

Pro : enough parking lot, breakfast was great, staff in dining room were very kind. Clean & good bed. Quiet and nice view. Neg : found 2-3 hairs in the bathroom tub. .

Great place for families to stay, the pool and spa area was lovely. Room was not fancy but it was clean and basic, single cot for child (free of charge!) was set up when we arrived. Breakfast the next morning was simply amazing! would be keen again if there was a $99 special, not likely more.

We stayed for 2 nights over easter/husbands birthday in a seaview room (room 733). Nice place, a great base for exploring northland for the first time! positives: loved the breakfast, spa, view, staff, and little frogs :) negatives: shuttle was a little late (but free) room was very dark- not enough lighting, and room was the furthest away it could possibly be from main access point/lift! we paid the $150 deal per night ... And now i see there is a $99 offer advertised. After our stay & seeing the hotel, i would probably only pay the $99, even at peak time .

We had an awesome time at copthorne paihia..kids and adults enjoyed the pool and the breakfast was fabulous..we would have wanted to upgrde to a beachfront view as the deal offers a garden view and our view is somehow not a garden but shrubs but since it was easter, it was fully booked...zoe the receptionist was very helpful and accommodating also toni frm the dining area overall it was a vry good experience.

Four dollar surcharge to use credit card. $50 bond not refunded on departure due to "bank policy" couldn't sleep during the afternoon due to housekeeping staff yelling to each other down hallways. Breakfast very lack lustre. Breakfast staff all seemed to have better things to do, other than be helpful or polite. Nice room. Beautiful location. Price was good. Will go back if the opportunity arises, but don't hold out any expectations that service will be any better unfortunately.
