Good clean room but our room was double booked and we were sitting in our bed clothes settling down for the night and our room was opened by the other couple who had been booked into our room also. We would use them again but hopefully would not have to experience this sort of thing happening again. The mix up happened due to a new software system that is integrated with our key cutting system and obviously things did not work correctly in this instance. Arrived at the hotel to be told that they stuffed up the booking and only had 1 twin room and not the 2 i had booked and the place was full with no spare rooms. After telling me they were going to try and move us to another hotel we told them it wasn't good enough. Next thing two double rooms were found, side-by-side. Frustrating.

The Kingsgate Hotel is very close to the Octagon (central Dunedin) we had very good service at check in/out. Very friendly and efficient, the map with our key was very useful.

Great location and good value room service :) really comfy bed. Only complaint was slightly aggressive staff member almost busting in to check if we had touched the mini bar ??.
