As part of the one of the largest resorts in the region, Kawarau Hotel, managed by Hilton is an upscale, full service hotel conveniently located five minutes southwest of Queenstown Airport and 15 minutes from the centre of Queenstown. Booked 2 nights, 1 through travelbug & 1 direct with the hotel. What a disaster. Hilton's computer system couldn't cope with 2 bookings for the same person through different systems. This soured our entire experience. This was compounded by 'amanda' from reservations who was condescending & unhelpful. The hotel itself was lovely & well appointed. Free underground parking was good. Surprised our room didn't have any hand soap, face cloths or a tea towel in the kitchen. Overall value for money as we booked a special. Stayed again and enjoyed it. It is worth noting that when booking through travelbug that both times hilton had not recieved my reservation. This is a hilton computer reservation issue because when i arrived their reservation system was causing them grief. Staff handled it well as usual. Double check your booking.

We got a free upgrade to lake view when we arrived. Staff were very friendly, but was slightly disappointed that me and mee noodle place was closed on monday night. Had a great stay overall. .

Enjoyable experience. Property clean, staff helpful and hotel eateries excellent. Travel into town fun and inexpensive, water taxi or shuttle. Motorcycle friendly with free underground car parking. Will stay again.

Great Hotel. Good value for the money. Room is fantastic,very clean, well appointed and decorated. Staff are exceptionally friendly. Only problem was having to ring housekeeping to replenish forgotten items each day of stay. Also had bad experience at attached bar/restraunt but think it was just an off day for them. Great staying just out of queenstown rush. Fantastic bar in the Hilton.

Really enjoyed our stay here, room was great, close to the airport fantastic if you have a car or want to work around water taxi or shuttle. The village is fantastic, a few different options for eating which was great. Found the service to be great with the exception of one encounter with a rude staff member who basically accused us of not actually staying in the hotel?! Only other downside is there is no pool or gym - this is reserved for those staying at the Hilton only which was a bit disappointing but overall we loved our stay here and would be back.

Not what is advertises, yet! Room service menu is terrible and the facilities in the village are not all there yet either! Shower over bath,surprised me as it was suppose to be 4 star! The bathroom itself reminded me of a cruise ship(Yes,that small) Only 1 phone and that was by the bed,not on the work station desk. Water taxi only goes from 5.30pm and it a good 25 minutes $42 cab fare from Queenstown, yes there is a shuttle(free at the moment) but it only goes hourly, even through the week. Some staff were great, some very inexperience but one or two extremely professional. Our housekeeper however removed our towels one day but did not replace them, and on another day did not replace tea bags. It needs to establish more. Has great potential and is lovely and quiet and am sure will be a great resort type place one day. However I feel very cheated as it advertises itself as something it is not!

Wonderful staff and top rate accomodation. Went for a facial and my son had a massage at the on site spa was just what we needed after all the travelling. Would highly recommend as wonderful facilities had a coffe at the coffee shop and ate out all just a walk out the door. Was a little hard to actually find the entrance to hotel but worth the time.
