Located just 10 mins from Rotorua, the Lakestay is situated opposite Lake Okareka (20m) nestled amongst native bush. The Lakestay prides itself on being mainly Organic and Eco-friendly with an efficient recycling system and use only Natural cleaning products. It is a modern, well designed, purpose built and friendly casual accommodation to suit the requirments of the independant traveller, looking for something NATURAL and UNIQUE, but affordable..

With your host,Cheryl's friendly and flexible approach to guests,many needs can be met. Whether you require the-guest share facilities in a double, single or triple room OR if you would prefer to be on your own in the 3brm unit.

This Tranquil setting is the ideal location to base yourself whle exploring the many lakes, and attractions in the Rotorua/Bay of Plenty area or a perfect Paradise to relax or return to at the end of a busy day or to recover and take time out from a busy travel schedule. Listen to and observe the Native birdlife from your bed, outdoor courtyard/garden or by enjoying the Lake Okareka Lake Edge Boardwalk or 1 of the many Bush walks in the area.

Cheryl can provide you with information on the local Tourism and outdoor activities in the area including;
-Volcanic/thermal areas.Lake Tarawera,views of Mt Tarawera and Buried village 5 mins drive. Visits to Mud pools, hot pools, waterfalls to relax in can be arranged with Cheryl.
-Troutfishing or scenic trips can be arranged with a local guide ,including swimming at Hot Water beaches,on any of the many Lakes in the area.
-Mountain biking can be arranged as the lakestay is situated with easy access to the world famous tracks suitable for abilities. Several Mountain Bikes are available for hire on the premises.
-Kayaks are available for hire .

Cheryl has set up the Lakestay to be mainly self-catering with a modern ,well equipped kitchen, but, if you require a breakfast to enjoy in your unit at your Leisure this can also be arranged .”Kiwi style” lunch and dinner Hampers made up of fresh, New Zealand products for you to cook yourself are also available all at an extra charge. Cheryl has an organic Vegetable garden where you are able to help yourself to produce when available. Alternatively other arrangements can be made for you to eat out at a local Café at nearby Lake tarawera.
