National Park's newest guest accommodation is a modern 82 room establishment with accommodation ranging from stylish bunk rooms to self contained motel style apartments or hotel style rooms.
The Park also features the Spiral Cafe & Bar and provides a guest transportation service for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, 42 Traverse and other activities and sight seeing.

Transfers and crossing went well. Accomodation was really average, no tv in room, noisy, and dark. Spa pool was tepid on first night and not working on second night. The staff were excellent though. . 1MARAMA MAYRICK - May 6, 2013 Travelbug verified review

Great location... Friendly staff... Excellent walks... Pity the weather didn't play the game!! breakfast was awesome and dinners were excellent value... Also good to see they didn't add 15% for the public holiday (anzac day). Desert on the first night was "interesting"... We ordered chocolate brownie smothered in chocolate sauce... Unfortunately they mistakenly smothered it in smokey bbq sauce!!! was a great laugh and replaced without question! all happy!.

I wish there was a 'thumb in the middle' option! although we did purchase a treat me voucher for our stay it was still not total value for money. Our room was directly across from the spa pool which was very noisy. The bed was a complete shocker.....very soft indeed as were the pillows. I had to ask for both towels and soap on arrival as there were none in our room. And the walls are apper thin. However, the food we had was good.....enjoyed the breakfast (although things ran out very quickly on the buffet one morning) and dinner the one evenning we ate in. Unfortunately we did not get to do the crossing due to bad weather so it was cancelled but we did still get our packed lunch (as we still went off and did a few walks) which everything bar the sandwich was nice. Rotten lettuce on the sandwich and was soggy. The staff however were friendly and the atmosphere in the common area of the lodge is warm and inviting....particularly the fire place. Would we stay again....undecided..

If there was the option i'd say thumb in the middle. Its a great deal through treatme / grabone and well worth it. The staff were excellent and very accommodating, in particular the reception staff and waiters in the restaurant. Good feel in the communal areas, spas are great and rooms warm. On the downside the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything in the rooms on all sides, so take earplugs. There is a cleaner there who obviously thinks she owns the place, lounging about and being generally obnoxious, bit of a liability. 6/10.

Great place, friendly and informative staff, excellent freshly cooked breakfast, warm and cosy room which was quiet. Would highly recommend staying here if doing the tongariro crossing and would stop here again.

The staff were great but the accommodation was very disappointing we could hear every noise from above, next door all night snoring. There was also a conference going on and they partied till 4 am with no thought to anyone else. Would another stay here again due to accommodation.

Very professional, prompt courteous service provided by all the friendly staff. Thought that they way the managed the "treat me" deal guests was very slick.the accommodation, catering and tongariro crossing shuttle arrangements were well done. Would definitely recommend the experience. There were some (three or four) noisy bar trolls who needed some encouragement to tone down their revelry on both evenings but hey, what goes on tour stays on tour! i would do it all again if presented with the opportunity. .

We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay here again. The staff were lovely and the food and accommodation fantastic! the transfers to the crossing were on time and the lunch that was supplied was great - i couldn't eat it all! the spa at the end was well worth the walk.

The tongarairo crossing part of our stay went smoothly with transfers and supplied lunch absolutely fine. The same couldn`t be said for the accommodation. The room was claustraphobic and sound proofing inadequate. A school group was staying at the same time and the noise at night unbelievable, leading to 2 bad nights sleep. I wouldn`t recommend staying here to anyone. We booked on a treatme deal and would retrospectively have paid more for somewhere better to stay.
