Situated in downtown Ohakune, 5 minutes' drive to the base of Mt Ruapehu, which boasts the Turoa Ski Field and the beautiful Tongariro National Park. There are many cafes and restaurants only a short walk from the motel. 18 self-contained units serviced daily, 1 with access facilities, some interconnecting and most with ski lockers. There are 2 drying rooms, laundry facilities, private spa and off-street parking. Mountain shuttle transport can be booked at reception.

During the summer enjoy the many walking tracks including the Old Coach Road and the famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing, canoe down the Whanganui river, and mountain biking. Free pick-up from the train station available on request. Only a 2-minute walk from the bus stop.

Compared to our accomodation in Taupo/Turangi area this was no where near as good, Paid $145 for self contained room that was pretty tired, had terrible water pressure, compared to $90 for taupo/turangi which was same type of accom, but with bath and bigger room and more modern! And still close to everything we needed. Sorry but disappointed or maybe we were just spoilt at other.

Hi Sandi, Thanks for your comments. The price difference you experienced is due to the two areas having different high and low seasons. You stayed with us during the ski season which is our high season(July - October) and our rates are adjusted for those four months accordingly. For the rest of the north island these months are their low season. During the other eight months of the year that unit is available at a similar rate you got in taupo/turangi. We are aware the type of units you stayed in are dated and hope to renovate them over our off season in time for the next ski season in 2012.

Great value for money place to stay. Room basic but had everything we needed and spa was fantastic after a day up the slopes. Staff were very friendly and helpful - would definitely stay there again on our next ski trip.

Whilst facilities were reasonably basic, room was very clean and tidy, and most importantly warm. Great spa to warm up in after a day up the mountain. Drying room was also handy. Would definitely book there again
