Inner City Victorian Style Boutique Hotel Accommodation.
Built in 1896 the Victoria Railway Hotel is an Invercargill Icon with a NZ Historic Places Trust Category 1 Classification. The Hotel was closed for an architecturally designed upgrade and refurbishment in June 2003, the subsequently re-opened in May 2004. The upgrade included automatic fire sprinklers throughout, Type 7 smoke detection, Ground floor wheelchair units, CCTV and 24hr PIR access. On the 23rd May 2007 the Victoria Railway Hotel was the recipient of the Invercargill City Council Environment Award “in recognition of the work done is conserving this Invercargill landmark” and “the contribution to the environment that your property makes”.
This Invercargill icon is one of the last remaining Hotels in New Zealand still being used for its original purpose. The Hotel specializes in accommodation with a range of options from Standard to Executive and VIP Rooms.
Lounge Bar and on site Dining for House Guests is available within the Hotel at Gerrard's Restaruant where the focus is traditional kiwi fare, fine Invercargill Beers and kiwi wines.

Fabulous as always. Beautiful place, well appointed rooms & lovely people. Only place to stay in Innvercargill as far as I am concerned. Will happily stay there again & would/have recommended to others as well.

We had the great pleasure of staying at the Victorian Railway Hotel on our way down to Stewart Island. The building is a great reminder of the past and so tastefully kept with its original charm but modernised in the important places such as bathroom and toilet. The welcome was indeed warm informative and inviting. Our room was so comfortable and well appointed. The dining room was a pleasure to sit in with its old atmosphere and relics of photos and china plates etc. The Dinner- Invercargill Angus steak was so tasty with lovely mushrooms and bacon and red wine; and my wife's dinner of panfried blue cod was the best she had ever eaten. The breakfast menu offered a full selection of cereals and fruit and bacon n eggs etc. We will be staying again whenever I have the pleasure to travel back to Invercargill. Thank you very much, Rose and Neil for a lovely stay.
