Welcome to Lazy Dolphin Lodge - Backpackers, situated at Curio Bay, The Catlins, Southern Scenic Route, Southland, New Zealand - featuring our own private beach access and panoramic views of the beach / bay, wildlife and sea.
We offer split level budget accommodation with queen beds, twin beds and shared rooms available.
Lazy Dolphin Lodge is ideal for retreat, family gatherings, school camps and group bookings etc, as sleeps 15. As we have 2 floors available, you can book individual floors out and have your own space - top floor sleeps 6, bottom floor sleeps 9.
We provide fully made up beds except for dorm room. We offer shared bathroom facilities, and fully equipped kitchen facilities - one each floor. Lounges are available for time out if required.
Telephone access, Email and Internet access, Wi Fi and Laundry facilities are available for a small fee. We also have some food items available if you get caught short.

Our host Glenda was very friendly, personable and helpful. No hassles at all Dolphins in the bay a delight. Penguins to see also. Only suggestions might be more bench space in the kitchen and possibly another shower facility.

Hi, i could never imagine when i booked the lodge from india that it would be a place with such serenity. The place is also beautiful and a place to visit with lifetime remembrance. The lodge is simple, clean, friendly, helpful matching with the natural environment of the location. Immediately on reaching the lodge, we walked for ten minutes and we saw the yellow eyed penguins come up on the beach absolutely carefree. When we came back after having seen at least 8/10 penguins, another guest from uk in the ;lodge told us that us that they saw dolphins swimming at the nearby sea at the back of the lodge. We rushed to the sea which was a couple of minutes walk and after waiting a while, we witnessed dolphins jumping 100 meters away in the sea. What a memorable and exciting experience. We had a enjoyable, tranquil, pleasant and comfortable stay in a double room. .

This amazing backpack had all the things we needed and much more! The bedroom and bathrooms were clean and ventilated. The bed was really confy!

Simple, clean, friendly, helpful. Dolphins swimming nearby and ten minutes to see the Yellow Eyed Penguins come up on the beach - what a treat. We had a pleasant, comfortable double room. Thank you!

This place was much better than the pictures might have suggested, the room was lovely, warm and comfortable, and the lounge/living area had a great set up with a view of the beach. Perhaps it was just winter (= things closed) but useful to know that Niagara Falls cafe is only food within close distance and it's not that cheap to have all meals there, so bring food. Fantastic overall, thankyou :)
