Hilltop Catlins offers quality and affordable accommodation for couples, families, groups and backpackers in two refurbished character cottages with atmosphere plus. Fully made-up ensuite, double and twin rooms are available, as are dorm bunk beds. Whole house bookings are also welcomed. Hilltop Accommodation is nestled alongside native forest on a sheep and beef farm, overlooking the tiny seaside community of Papatowai and the Southern Scenic Route, in the heart of the Catlins. We invite you to stay awhile, and share our beautiful ocean and valley views, relax in our tranquil gardens, and wake to the bellbird dawn chorus. Rated by the " The Observer" as one of NZ's top ten accommodation establishments, we are also highly recommended by "Lonely Planet", "Rough Guide" and "Lets Go" travel guides. We lucked out and had the whole house to ourselves. In any case, its a nice space; very cozy with a working fireplace and an awesome tub.

Had the worst weather day of our holiday here, so it was nice to spend it in a very pleasant place. We are told the views are lovely on a nice day so don`t be put off if you like it quiet. Recommended.

Magnificent setting and views in this beautiful region of the South Island. The lower house provides very attractive period accommodation with superb facilities and lovely garden. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a great stay at Hilltop, would recommend it to anyone, and would love to stay again. Amazing setting with panoramic views of the coast, farmland, and hills. Beautiful old character home, amazingly stocked kitchen. Lovely garden and really felt like we were staying in a friend's home.

Stayed for one night and wished we had time to stay longer. Beautiful setting and well furnished bedroom. Shared kitchen was nicely set up and very clean. Would definitely stay again.

We stumbled across this B&B during our travels and it was one of the best finds in New Zealand. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hilltop. The house was comfortable, beautifully decorated, the beds were super cozy. The views incredible. Enjoyed the large cast iron bath tub and the fireplace was delightful.
