  • We enjoyed our stay in the motel, which was comfortable. The food in the restaurant was great, both at night and for breakfast. The staff were very friendly throughout our stay which really makes a big difference. We will stay again. . 5

  • Great location - many beautiful sights close by. Lots of rain meant we saw the waterfalls at their best. It was good having the cafe as part of the complex so we could enjoy good food and coffee. Although our accommodation was clean and comfortable and had everything described I am not sure that 'motel' is the appropriate name for the units - because they are very small and we went in with expectations of the space being larger due to other motel experiences. So a name more suggestive to what you get would work better I think. 5

  • Thank you for the comments Lynn and kudos. Our theme is recycled, eco-friendly buildings that suit our environment. This building came from the Luxmore Hotel in TeAnau. We seriously upgraded it and added a fully self-contained kitchen for exclusive use of our 7 units. The rooms are actually quite large for two persons with leather furniture and rimu hush walls. The walls are adjoining and we called them "ensuite" units. Some people did not understand what ensuite meant, so we tried clarifying by saying "ensuite-motel-style" units. Maybe we could call them "hotel" rooms, but that connotes the restaurant being in the complex? They are somewhere in between. We have made every attempt to fairly describe them on our website. www.catlinsnz.com. We don't want cooking smells in the rooms. Most motels have a very small kitchen in them, ours have coffee and tea service plus a bar fridge, but we added a very large kitchen which has all mod-cons, plus undercover outdoor seating, for our motel/hotel guests.
