Nestled on Taranaki's spectacular coastline, overlooking the Sugar Loaf Islands, The Chalets at Okurukuru provide the perfect getaway.
Each Chalet provides a spacious, open plan lounge with large flat-screen TV & Freeview, CD player/radio/iPod dock, dining area and kitchen with hob, microwave and dishdrawer. The downstairs bedroom includes a choice of super-king bed or twin singles, flat-screen TV & Freeview. The en suite shower room includes a double shower.
For extra guests, there is a double sofabed in the lounge, which also has its own shower room adjacent.
Enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony upstairs in the evening or breakfast on the balcony downstairs taking in the sweeping views of the vineyard and coastline.
The central deck area is a great place for larger groups booking more than one chalet to gather.
With the on-site Restaurant/Cafe/Function Centre you never have to go far whether you're just after a short break, longer holiday or accommodation whilst your at a conference or wedding here at Okurukuru.
Just 10 minutes south of New Plymouth, even closer to Oakura, Back Beach and Paritutu. Close to Pukeiti, Bowl of Brooklands and Pukekura Park. Ask about accommodation for WOMAD and Rugby World Cup.

Thought the chalets were lovely, clean , modern and well kitted out. The view was great and I could see myself staying there whatever the weather. It was great. The breakfast basket was lovely and there was plenty in it. The only down side, which wasn't a deal breaker, was the TV. It had terrible reception and stayed on a program for about half hour at the most before it went off and "no signal" came on. 4Pam - Jan 27, 2012 Travelbug verified review

Accommodation was first class - only shocker was instant coffee - the provision of real freshly ground coffee has become accepted practice in most high quality accommodation units across New Zealand Meal in restaurant was OK, nice but not outstanding ... staff, though friendly and attentive, showed a distinct lack of knowledge/experience in some areas.

Hi John There should have been a coffee plunger and ground coffee in your chalet as well as the instant, so sorry if they were not there for your stay, I will ensure this does not happen again! Thank you for your feedback re the restaurant, I will pass this on to the kitchen staff. We do have some new front of house staff from time to time, that obviously need time to get the experience required to be able to answer any questions, hopefully they said they would find out the answers to any queries from more experienced staff and brought you the answers, if this wasn't the case, please let me know, so I can review our staff training. An amazing place to stay!! The view out over the sea from your bed is stunning and the staff at Okurukuru were delightful!! There was a slight mix up with our breakfast which the the staff more than made up for.. the breakfast was lovely and included fresh fruit and a cute selection of tarts. The staff even did up a sweet little dessert with candle for my birthday when we dined in the restaurant on our 2nd night :D an amazing place to stay for a quite, reasonably secluded weekend away or special occasion, i know i will be going back!! A+++

This place is absolutely out of this world in a very good way! The Chalets were in my opinion "5 Star" and are so new you can still smell it!The continental breakfasts that were provided were delicious with a wide variety to chose from and room delivered with a smile :-). The dine in restaurant supplied us with a menu with a variety of dishes to chose from and i recommend the "Lamb potted pie" I guarantee you have never tasted a better lamb pie than this, with the amazing selection of wine available and with a view overlooking the vineyard out to the ocean,I can honestly say this place has a million dollar view that is thrown in free with the accommodation as well as the restaurant meals!The Chalets at Okurukuru had supplied me with one of the most memorable experiences of my life and I couldn't fault them in any way over my 2 night stay with them and also I have no hesitation in recommending them for any service that they supply,friendly helpful staff. Highly recommended AAA+++
