Welcome to The Ratanui - If you are after a serene and tranquil experience then we can offer you very affordable, friendly accommodation. A property that you can enjoy grounds with fantastic views of Mt Taranaki and only just 'down the road' from New Plymouth concert venue, Bowl of Brooklands, in Pukekura Park.
Ratanui is located only 6 minutes drive from the City Centre, with mystic mountain views and beautiful established gardens. You'll love the Taranaki lifestyle, and only a short drive to wonderful restaurants and cafes in central New Plymouth.

Excellent accomodation- hotel style at motel prices. Modern , scrupulously clean and very comfortable. Location was perfect- quiet and plenty of space in the gardens for a family game of cricket or touch. Hosts were friendly and helpful.would highly recommend to anyone staying in taranaki.

Drove up the driveway with the units in the foreground and the mountain in the background. Picturesque. Upgraded to a renovated unit. It was lovely, spacious and well-appointed. A very serene setting.

Had a great stay during the garden festival. The unit was modern and clean, the gardens lovely and conveniently not far from town with a quiet country outlook. A great base for our holiday.

Our unit was warm comfortable and well equipped; the fact it was not yet modernized was no barrier to our enjoying a very pleasant stay in beautiful surroundings. Quiet and peaceful with plenty of birdsong! no extractor fan in the bathroom meant that condensation settled on the tiled floor making it very slippery, and there was only one bedside table, but no doubt these issues will be fixed in any upgrade making ratanui a really good place to stay. I would certainly book in again.

Booking hassel free. Arrival formalities worked well (Upgrade to house in place of two room cottage required by Ratanui Villas). Accommodation to very high standard with marvellous park like surroundings. Would be more than happy to repeat the experience.

Firstly, the hosts were friendly and the setting was very beautiful and obviously lovingly maintained. The studio i stayed in wasn't. It wasn't cozy, in fact it was cold and felt damp. You could see daylight around the frames of the front and rear doors. I got a splinter from the badly repaired tv stand. The outdoor style bulkhead light in the kitchenette needed fixing (and it would have been nice if it wasn't covered in dust and insects). The curtain was missing from the wardrobe/closet area. I don't mind basic and dated accommodation. Given the setting - and with half as much tlc as the garden receives - it could have offered fair value. As it was at my visit i don't think it did.
