  • The room was great and the beds were VERY comfortable ( I am a real PRINCESS about bed comfort and I slept SOOO well). They do not make it clear that they are non-smoking so I had to fight to be allowed to get an ashtray to be able to smoke on the balcony. The walls are so thin that my daughter was woken by lovemaking in the next room! BUT just like a previous guest was VERY pissed off being woken by Mrs Hitler on the morning of checkout at 8.20am. Spoilt my stay and they need to speak to this housekeeper. Also got phonecall at home on my return about a packet of chips missing from minibar --- must have cost more to call me in Auckland than the cost of the chips!!!! Definitely knew I had stayed in an area originally populated by Scots!!!!. Ate in the hotel one night -- the food was middling and I would not recommend it. Would stay again but only because overall Dunedin is pretty backwater and there is nowhere else better --- at least this hotel is in town. Oh yeah --parking is crap!!

  • Central location was great - everything within walking distance. Staff were always helpful and obliging. Rooms tidy and well-appointed.
    KATHY THOMAS - Sep 7, 2009
  • Value for money hotel, clean, good rooms and VERY comfortable beds. Great location to city centre and restaurants. Back bar very good with leather sofa's. Needs some upgrading with carpets etc in some areas. Otherwise a good 2 nights away. Would go back again.

  • Old Hotel in need of a make over. Rooms were small and beds uncomfortable. Bathroom adequate. Had dinner at the restaurant attached to the Hotel. Waited 45mins for food to come and then it was only ordinary.Ceilings looked like they were made from asbestos. Overall not a comfortable stay. Very disappointed after reading good reviews from other people. Have issues with parking spaces made available for guests. Within easy walking distance to city centre and attractions.
