Comments about this property

  • Disappointing. Room was dated, dark and smelled musty and old. Tried to open the window to get some fresh air but it was broken and wouldn't stay open. Won't stay there again. Overpriced.

  • Settlers Hotel is a mid level provincial hotel, looking to offer good service and a comfortable stay. The hotel has recently started a quiet but steady upgrade extending through 2010 as we look to retain the charm but give a needed lift in quality. We had high occupancy 18/10 from a Lions Convention so I assume by chance Ms.Sutherland was booked into an older studio, as opposed to others booked into our better rooms. We are committed to improvement and we are getting results with occupancy lifting. If Mary Sutherland is visiting Whangarei in the future, I would ask that she contacts me, so we can try to make amends. Larry Mitchell GM

  • Friendly staff and a clean, well kept room. Would happily stay again. Only thing is I couldn't find a spoon to stir my coffee with, but that could just be my domestic blindness. . .

  • Disappointed. Stayed here many times over the years 80's & 90's. Badly needs renovating and appliance refit. Faulty lights and fridges. No air conditioning. Dining room closed because of wedding. Noisy.

  • The room was a little old fashioned. But staff where helpful and is in a good location close to town

  • Good location and nice tidy room although rather dated decour. Didn't eat in the restaurant as meals seemed very expensive.

  • Has everything you need for a comfortable stay really close to town, and taxi fare was very cheap from there too. Very pretty setting, would have been great if the pool had water in it!!

  • The rooms are pleasant enough, the lack of service when we went for breakfast was poor. Not enough plates, food and totally disorganised and overpriced.

  • good! friendly, nice room... nothing wrong in this motel

  • Arrived and was welcomed. Given a room key, but found the room had been used by a smoker, and was unacceptable. Was handed a few more keys to check out the rooms and choose another which was entirely satisfactory. Dining room, staff and food all acceptable, although somewhat dated in decor and menu. All in all, Thumbs up and will probably stay there again next time I am in Whangarei. Thanks.
