Comments about this property

  • absolute dump, looks like it hasnt been touched since built im guessing 70s era, everythings very old but what can you expect for $60

  • Nathan we are sorry if you did not enjoy your stay with us. Our camp was built in the 1960s to accommodate workers on the Clyde dam so yes the buildings are old. Rather than spend the infinite amount of money it would take to upgrade the park we have decided to provide clean and affordable accommodation. As you state, where else can you stay for $60 a night! We like to offer our customers the chance to spend their money on enjoying what the region has to offer rather than the bed they sleep in. Not for everyone, however many people believe they are getting value for their money when they stay with us.

  • We weren't sure what to expect after reading some other reviews of the place, but we found the motel room that we stayed in to be excellent value. The room was clean and tidy, the sheets smelled fresh which is always a good sign. Management seemed to go out of their way to make us feel welcome - and they seem to have some interesting stories to tell being a couple from Wellington newly settled in the area. It was a hive of activity when we were there, so it seemed a popular place and certainly gave it some character having so many families and children around. Aided no doubt by the playground area and the fact that they actually have an apple tree on-site bearing edible fruit! You don't see many places where that can happen. The on-site bar and restaurant was warm and cosy, albeit quiet but the food was delicious - but a bit on the pricey side. Being such a great location between Wanaka and Queenstown it was an ideal base for our trip and would gladly stay there again.

  • Thank-you for your comments. The Chalets has been under "New Management" and we are continually upgrading the Holiday Park.

  • We stayed in a double chalet. The room was okay. I was a little wierded out by some of the other residents who gave me the impression that they were perminent residents (maybe seasonal workers?) (I was wierded out as one or two were kind of hanging around and looked like they were maybe a bit drunk or stoned or something). Also there was no freezer in the communal fridge in the chalet section. There was a freezer in another block close by but we didn't feel like putting anything in there because there was a big sign on the fridge from management asking people to stop stealing stuff - this did nothing to counteract the bad feeling I had about the resident population! The kitchenette had some cups and bowls but lacked essentials such as a can opener (maybe stolen?). Also when we were first going to bed some of the residents in a nearby block started having a booze-up complete with loud music with turbobass - luckily they packed up by ten though.
