Comments about this property

  • wonderful night, we got upgraded, very cosy night inside while very cold outside. great breakfast- relaxed atmosphere.

  • We stayed in the "walkers lodge" and it was great, we had free use of the spa and the view from the bunk was amazing, the staff were really helpful and booked our water taxi for us, the only slight downside was the choice of food available at the snapper cafe for the prices paid, everything else made up for it though.

  • This hotel is ideal for any couples that want to get away from it all. From what I could see, all of rooms had a view, they were very clean and up to date. We caught the water taxi to the hotel, would recommend doing the same, otherwise its a long drive from Picton. Lots to see and do, or you can just sit back and relax

  • Considering we stayed in low season and there were very few guests we were treated very well. We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a spa bath suite which was lovely. The staff were all very professional and while, given the number of guests, the dinner menu was limited to the all day menu (no problems by us!!) the food was fantastic. But breakfast - wow! what a plateful!!! I had never been to the Portage or driven the road but I was pleasantly surprised at the scenery. Well done team & thank you for the experience.

  • Thumbs way up! Absolutely stunning. Beautiful place and beautiful accommodation. Everything was perfect. Food in the Snapper Cafe was delicious. I can not wait to go back!

  • The Portage is in a truely spectacular location, with beautiful views across the Sounds. We took advantage of the conference facilities and the staff were helpful and attentive. Our rooms were smallish, but the beds were very comfortable and it was a good nights sleep. We also enjoyed a great meal at the restaurant and the Blue Cod comes highly recommended.
